Abstract

The purpose of this document is to investigate the importance and Occurrence of wireless internet access in ubiquitous systems and security including eavesdropping. It is about the idea to get access to informations anytime and anywhere. To have the possibility to get online regardless of location and time. Wireless Internet access in ubiquitous systems would make this idea real. Standards such as Wi-Fi or GPRS enable full mobility in different ranges. To get a clear comprehension of the term ubiquitous systems. Ubiquitous systems are systems we daily face or use such as mobile phones, automobiles or home appliances and these are only a few of many. Another point is to list the advantages of wireless internet access in terms of physical and financial. This paper also aims to catalogue the relation between wireless internet access and ubiquitous systems and to find out which systems are compatible and suitable to have wireless internet access.

Keywords: security, mobility, Wi-Fi, GPRS, Bluetooth, eavesdropping, Ubiquitous systems

Introduction

Wireless Internet access is given mainly by local area network (LAN) run by radio waves rather then wires. What the mobility is concerned there are standards such as GSM or UMTS which enable wireless internet access through GPRS (e.g. for Notebooks) or mobile phone based connection. In the local area network there is a broadcasting central hub, which is a hard-wired device that actually brings the Internet connection. Basically every computer based device within receiving range that is equipped with a wireless LAN card or device can be connected. What connectivity underway is concerned, devices such as a PDA or mobile phones nowadays are able to establish a connection from everywhere.

Wireless solution in the office or at home

First there is a question to be answered: What are the benefits and advantages of a radio frequency based connection at home, in the office or underway?

Ø  From the finacial view it's much more low-priced concidering the effort that is needed to install cables through walls of a office building which it's much more time consuming. In the past, these disadvantages was sometimes overlooked due to the advantages of greater security and faster data transfer speeds through Ethernet cables. These advantages are losing more and more their significance, however.

Ø  Wireless local area networks can be installed within a few minutes and can have a high data transfer speed that comes very close to the speed of hard-wired Ethernet LANs.

Ø  The amount of public hot spots and localities providing free wireless internet access is increasing are becoming more and more popular. Addressing the security problem; Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) is a effective solution.

Results and Discussion

The Liberty to move everywhere without losing the connection is gaining in significance more and more. The internet and other connection based services host a huge amount of useful and potentially essential and indispensable information that must be available local and enroute. Is it clear that the modern internet era become indispensable and this is inter alia a reason why wireless internet access should be available on ubiquitous systems to increase the disposability or at least to keep it up.

Conclusions

There are numerous ubiquitous systems that work even effectively and productively if they are connected to the internet. And there are many mobile ubiquitous systems that are depended on the wirelessness connectivity. Not least because of their rapid increasing commonness wireless internet access equipped ubiquitous systems represent the technical future progress. Also concerning the economic aspect it has potential.
