Instructional Procedures:
· Introduce the topic by asking students if they drank orange juice for breakfast that morning. Ask if they believe it to be an American tradition, or?
· Pass out the handout titled ‘Cultural diffusion HANDOUT’ attached to this lesson plan. This can also be found at www.nationalgeographic.com
· Read the handout as a class.
· Discuss various topics related to cultural diffusion and ask for any specific examples students might be able to think of.
· Begin attached Power Point presentation.
· Work through the slides answering any questions and fielding any new ideas about cultural diffusion the students might have.
· Discuss the assignment and show a couple of the websites listed on the power point to introduce the learners to places to look for examples of cultural diffusion. You may want to search for a few things not mentioned earlier to help spark some interest, such as musical instruments, different sports, etc.
