How To: Basics
1) Take all items out of the box
a) The box should contain an Ipaq, scanner, dock, wires, manual, and a cd inside the manual
2) Put the socket scanner into the Ipaq
a) Face the writing on the scanner towards you and insert to the to of the Ipac
b) Make sure it is secure (your Ipaq may turn on automatically when inserted)
c) If your Ipaq hasn’t turned on automatically then turn on
i) To turn on press the silver button on the top right side
d) When Ipaq is on you will see
i) Date
ii) PPC #
iii) Battery usage (this is located in the middle of the screen under the picture of a battery)
Setting Up: Installation Process
1) Now take the cd that you got out of the manual and put into computer
a) A box will pop up you will need to click on next
b) The next screen will tell you whether or not you already have the software
c) If you do not have it then click next
d) Then you click install
e) From there on just follow the prompts
f) When you get to business/organization name just put store name in
g) You do not need to fill any other information in
2) When the software is finished downloading your computer will restart
3) Take Your Dock and wires to the computer that you will be installing the Ipaq to
4) You Dock comes with two different wires. One is to connect to the computer and the other is a home charger. You will not need the home charger for this process
5) Connect one end of the wire to your USB in the tower of your computer.
6) Connect the other end to an electric outlet
7) Now place your Ipac into the docking station
8) A box will come up click ok
9) Another box will pop up for a installation wizard click CANCEL
10) Then one last box will come up and this will be for Activsync and it will let you know that you are connected
Creating An Order
1) Turn your Ipaq on
2) Tap Start in the upper left corner
3) Tap SBARS ORDERS from the scroll down list
4) Tap New
5) If you have a PO# touch the pointer in the box and insert your PO
a) The keypad to write with is in the lower right corner. Tap once and it will come up and tap again and it will go back down
6) Tap LINES tab(this brings you to the ability to scan in full version) Full version gives you all the info about the item you are scanning. Remember to take the check mark out of the QUICK box only if you do not want the min of each item.
7) To scan more efficiently tap 1st icon on the bottom left (calculator mode)
8) Scan back tag or UPC by pressing button on left side of PPC
9) Cursor comes up in QTY field with minimum, increase if necessary, then tap ACCEPT
10) To end order go to the finish tab
a) Your first choice is to save the order and upload at a later time
i) All you would do in this instance is tap save
Docking IPAQ: Uploading An Order
b) Your second choice is to upload right away
i) You would dock the PPC. Press ok to synchronize with this computer. Press CANCEL for PPC sync set up wizard
ii) Go to internet explorer and type www.sbarsonline.com
iii) Go log in to website. Press upload PO on PPC
iv) Select the shopping cart. Here you can make any edits or review order
v) Click check out now. Enter any special message at this point
vi) Click complete purchase. Your order number will be displayed
vii) Print out your confirmation receipt now
viii) Once your order is pulled and shipped you will receive an email in excel of your entire shipment with cost
To Upload A New Database
We recommend updating your database at least once a week.
1) Dock the PPC
2) Click on START, then SBARS ORDERS
3) Click on TOOLS option in the bottom bar
a) Select DATABASE
4) Click on DELETE
a) Click on OK from the prompt window
b) Click on OK from the upper right corner
5) Click on TOOLS again
a) Select SYNC
b) Check and download the latest data
c) Click on SYNC
d) Click on CLOSE
6) Click on TOOLS again
a) PRODUCT FILE IMPORT
b) Select IMPORT
c) When complete CLOSE
Helpful Hints and Shortcuts
1) Turn on your Ipaq
a) Tap START and then tap SBARS ORDERS
2) Lower left corner and tap VIEW
3) Tap ACCOUNT
a) You should see your name and address
4) Tap OTHER TAB
a) You should see your account number
5) Tap PHONE
a) You should see your phone number
6) Tap NOTES
a) You should see any special notes
7) Click ok on any screen to leave this section
8) Click VIEW ORDERS
a) All orders still in your PPC
i) To display order
(1) Tap the order number
(2) Tap the EDIT button
(3) Tap the LINES tab to view the items on the order
(4) Tap the FINISH tab to go to the end of the order and view the number of lines and total dollar amount of the order.
ii) To keep order tap the SAVE button
9) To Delete an order:
a) Hold the pointer on the order line until the choices come up
i) Your choices will be
(1) DELETE MARKED
(2) DELETE SELECTED
(3) DELETE SUBMITTED
10) Edit Items In Order Detail
a) When item appears on screen tap and hold on the line of the item
i) A prompt will come up and give you four choices
(1) Find item in catalog(this will bring you to a list of items in the catalog where you are able to check any item you see and add them to your order)
(2) Edit item(this will bring you to the Item Detail page where you are able to edit the item)
(3) Delete item(deletes only the highlighted item)
(4) Delete all items(deletes all items that you have)
b) Quick Mode
i) On your order detail screen next to the box where the UPC shows up is a small square box with a check in it
ii) If unchecked this allows you to edits quantities of items before they are added to the order
11) Search For Products
a) This gives you the ability to search for products in many different ways
b) You can sort products by choosing from the drop down box
c) Then choose from the left side what you want to search with
d) Tap your pen in the empty box and the keyboard will appear.
e) Tap in your words then tap SEARCH button
f) Your results should display.
g) Click and hold to add to order
h) Tap the keyboard icon to hide and view entire display
