Helpful tips for your on-air guest appearance
Thank you for accepting our invitation to be a guest during the Spring/Fall Pledge Drive. We look forward to celebrating the gift of Catholic radio with you and our listeners. Our listeners will enjoy hearing why you love Catholic Radio as much as they do. Please plan to share why you have taken time out of your busy schedule to help support the stations they listen to every day.
We will share information about your parish, ministry, school, community, and how Catholic Radio is helping you, your parishioners, family members, student families, friends, acquaintances and our Diocese. We’ve put together the following tips to help you prepare for your time on the air encouraging listeners to support Catholic Radio.
Things to do before your visit:
• If you aren’t familiar with our location, our studio is (Insert location and parking instructions)
• Send us any of your social media “handles” and online links so we can
help promote and tag you with our social media posts. Please send them to (Insert appropriate email contact)
· Let us know if you want to discuss any special events, projects, ministries
• Let us know if you want to offer any “thank you” gifts for our listeners such
as CDs, DVDs, books, tickets, host a dinner, baked goods, etc.
• Let us know if you want to provide a “matching gift” challenge. A matching gift challenge is when a guest offers to match listener contributions for a set dollar amount or timeframe. If you are a monthly donor, you can also challenge listeners to match your monthly donation.
What to expect during your visit:
• Arrive 15-20 minutes before your on-air guest appearance. Come earlier or
stay later if you’d like.
• You’ll be on air with (Insert Host/Hosts).
• Your on-air time may vary. You may be on for two or three breaks or longer
depending on programming segments.
• Guest pledge drive appearances are not standard interviews. They are
designed to be conversations about the importance of collaboration and evangelization in our Diocese. Focused on the role Catholic radio plays in teaching the truths of our Catholic faith.
What should we talk about?
• What you like about Catholic Radio, your favorite Catholic radio shows, your parish,
your school, Diocesan office or ministry.
• Why is Catholic radio important to you?
• How Catholic Radio adds value to you, your family, your community?
• How do you believe the stations improve the Catholic culture and quality of life in our Diocese?
• Why is it important for the community to financially support Catholic Radio Network?
• How is Catholic Radio a part of your life?
• How Catholic Radio helps you in your faith journey, your ministry and efforts to teach the faith?
• Please share any listener testimonials or any memorable moments you have heard.
The success of a Pledge Drive is critically dependent on pre-pledge drive efforts:
• Personally, ask family members, friends, co-workers, parishioners, parents of students, acquaintances to call in their support while you are on the air or anytime during the pledge drive.
• Email your contact list and let them know when you will be on the air.
Below is a cut and paste announcement you can use for an email or other communication:
Dear ______,
I write to you today to ask for your support while I am on the air for The Presence Radio Network pledge drive the last week of September. Twice a year we come together to celebrate with our family of faith throughout the State of Maine. We have a joyful opportunity to show our gratitude to our Lord for the precious gift of Catholic radio.
Join me on the air ______. You can hear me on one of your local stations:
