INNOVATING FOR YOU – The IAA exhibition fleet from Fliegl Trailer

The Vario Chassis V2+ takes us into a new era for container logistics

Several years experience in practical applications have been incorporated into the development of the Vario chassis V2, that Fliegl Trailer are presenting at the IAA 2014. The result has generated a significant plus for the demanding container transport business: A wide collection of innovative ideas and forward-looking revisions have turned the V2+ into a completely new vehicle – with significantly higher values of stability, flexibility, user comfort and durability.

Central telescoping is one of the main new features of the weight optimized Vario V2+. The parking brakes are activated by the so-called Tele Control and – depending on the containers size – the required length can be selected in a single action. When attained, it locks automatically in the predefined position. Manual locking is not required. The system works easily, safely and without jamming.

The front extension boom is adjustable and is equipped with disc springs. They optimally absorb shocks and prevent any deformation. The extension has a duplex locking system, that simultaneously opens and closes both side bolts. For this only one easy to reach and easy to operate lever is necessary.

The universal front locking system is new. It can be flexibly adapted to the particular containers size and form – from 40 foot without a tunnel, through a 40 foot high cube, up to a 45 foot container with a long tunnel. To protect against damage and for the best possible room when manoeuvring the towing tractor, the supply unit is now mounted higher up and is coupled to the guide on the front extension. The guide itself is fitted with a vertical plate to protect against deformation, whilst at the same time making the loading of the trailer even easier: The container finds its position quickly and easily.

The rear extension booms have also been improved. The improvements include: A rubber-mounted guide shaft for more grip and additional spring damping. The rubber coating absorbs shocks from the container and increases the life of the chassis.

The massive bolts of the reinforced, bolted and removable spring bar ensure a secure locking of the extension boom, this snaps automatically into place in a large opening, locking it. To optimize safety at work when pushing back the extension, the frame has been shortened in the area of the telescope gliding tunnel. Because of this there is more room for the safe operation of the extension.

The heavy block at the rear of the V2+ has been extended further to the rear, so that the light unit of the vehicle is protected and cannot be damaged when driving onto the loading ramps. The underride guard is made of rust-free, galvanized steel. When pulling out to the rear the element automatically snaps to the desired position. The light aperture is made of rust-free stainless steel.

The position of the support foot has been changed, it is now further back on the frame. The pulling tractor can now manoeuvre with optimum space – even at extreme angles. Even with a long wheelbase HGV, the support feet cannot be damaged. The positioning lights are located outside the radius of movement of the tractor unit and so are well protected in a similar way on the outside of the frame.

The Vario Chassis V2+. A future-oriented development of innovative character from Fliegl. Entirely new. Optimized in every way for stability, handling and efficiency.
