Innisfail 9th Annual Softball Tournament Rules

All rules of the game shall be in accordance with the C.A.S.A rule book and the Alberta Handbook except the following:

Respect:

  • No protest will be allowed. The Umpire’s decision is final.
  • Coaches and players are encouraged to be courteous and all must respect the Umpire’s decision and the talents of the opposing team (Abuse of Umpires or Tournament Staff will not be tolerated)

Line-up:

  • All players bat
  • Unlimited substitutions
  • Catchers must wear proper protective equipment

Home Team:

  • The Home team shall be determined before each game by a coin toss

Scorekeeping Duties/Requirements:

  • Each Team will be required to supply a scorekeeper for the game
  • Home Team is the Official Scorekeeper
  • At the end of the game, both teams must verify game sheet
  • Score sheets are included in your Managers package and must be dropped off at the end of the game to the Tournament House located at the Arena

Time Limit:

  • No infield warmup. Please warm up on sidelines.
  • For round robin games the following will apply:
  1. U10 – (5 innings max) no new innings after 1 hour (1hr 15 mins in final)
  2. U12- (5 innings max) no new innings after 1 hour 15 mins (1hr 30 mins in final)
  3. U14 – (6 innings max) no new innings after 1 hour 15 mins (1hr 30 mins in final)
  4. U16 – (6 innings max) no new innings after 1 hour 15 mins (1 hour 30 mins in final)
  5. U18/19 – (7 innings max ) no new innings after 1 hour 30 mins (1hr 45 mins in final)
  • If your team has 2 outs and your catcher is on base, please substitute last better out as a courtesy runner

Scoring:

  • 5 runs maximum per innings
  • No open innings except the LAST innings in the FinalsONLY
  • Ties are allowed in round robin play
  • 15 runs after 4 complete innings Mercy rule is in effect
  • Completed innings will be used in tie-breaker scenarios

Round Robin Play:

  • Points will be awarded as follow:
  • 2 points – Win
  • 1 point – Tie
  • 0 points – Loss
  • If teams are tied for positioning after the round robin, the positions will be determined by using the following criteria:
  • If two teams are tied, ranking will be determined as follows:
  • Winner of the games between the two teams
  • The team with the fewest runs against in the round robin (for completed innings)
  • A coin toss
  1. If three or more teams are tied, ranking will be determined as follows:
  2. Points earned for games played between the tied teams
  3. The team with the fewest runs against in the games played between the tied teams (for completed innings)
  4. Total runs for each team (for completed innings)
  5. Coin toss

Playoffs:

  • Age Level Directors will notify each team Saturday evening after tournament boards have been updated. Arena lobby will also be open until ???

Other:

  • Innisfail Minor Ball Association will not be responsible for any lost items or any injuries that may occur
  • Tournament officials reserve the right to reschedule and alter the number and/or length of games due to rain or other hazards. In case of rain out, 3 complete innings constitutes a game
  • This is an Alberta Amateur Softball Association sanctioned tournament.
