Position Description

Job Title: AmeriCorps Construction Liaison

Department: Real Estate Development and Management (REDM)

Reports To: Construction Project Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt/Full-Time

SUMMARY

The AmeriCorps Construction Liaison is a supporting member of the Real Estate Development and Management (REDM) department at ICCF. This position is responsible for assisting with construction and construction administration activities including theimplementation of capital improvements and resolving code violations onICCF’s “Community Homes Initiative”, a scattered-site rental portfolio consisting of single family and small multi family properties.

This role will report directly to ICCF’s Construction Project Manager with guidance and oversight by the Construction Project Supervisor. This position requires strong verbaland written communication skills, digital skills, and the ability to quickly learn new skills and processes. The ability to interpret technical details (plans, specifications, etc.) as required is preferred.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

•Implements various construction goals as directed by the Construction Project Manager and Supervisor.

•Assists with achieving GreenStar Home Certifications for rehabilitated homes.

•Assists with inspecting properties to determine repairs, improvements, and energy efficiency upgrades.

•Construction tasks may include (but is not limited to) rough carpentry, interior trim, window installation, siding,limited masonry repairs, flooring, hardware and accessories, paint and landscaping.

•Assists with the supervision and training of volunteers on ICCF construction sites.

•Assists in the coordination of subcontractors, deliveries and inspections.

•Prepares and cleans project sites.

•Assists in the development ofconstruction punch lists.

•Ensures timely response to building construction concerns arising from regulatory agency inspections.

•Reports all liability and community incidents to the corporate office immediately. Ensures that all workers’ compensations claims are reported and proper paperwork is completed.

•Maintains a positive customer relations attitude.

•Complies with all Federal and Local Fair Housing regulations and ordinances.

•Complies with all lead safe construction practices.

•This position may partake in trainings to enable them to check for lead and asbestos.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Possible supervision of volunteers from local schools, businesses and churches.

Some coordination of trade contractors will be required.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or GED is required.

Previous experience working in residential construction is preferred.

Previous experience working with residential green building programs is preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Basic construction math ability required. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Valid Michigan Driver's License and acceptable driving record is required.
