INFORMATIVE HEALTH PROGRAMS OFFERED
AT OLD BRIDGE LIBRARY
Old Bridge, NJ – Feb. 8, 2017 – The Old Bridge Public Library will present four programs in February to help patrons begin the year with a healthy start.
On Mon. Feb. 13th at 10:30am, there will be a session entitled, “Healthy Eating As You Age.” The program will address how nutritional needs change as people age. Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist Maryrose Agel RD will lead a discussion about staying healthy and fit, including nutrition and diet tips specifically for seniors. A graduate of Rutgers University, Agel completed her dietetic internship at the University of Medicine & Dentistry. In addition, she has completed Levels 1 and 2 of the Certificate of Training in Adult Weight Management from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
On Thurs. Feb. 16th at 7pm, Dr. Ken Freedman returns to the Library to present, “The Skinny on Weight Loss: Why Some People Can and Can’t Lose Weight.” This session will examine why some people lose weight with little effort while others struggle for years. The interactive program will discuss the key factors that can sabotage weight loss efforts. Dr. Freeman, founder of Freedman Chiropractic Center, LLC in East Brunswick, has served as President of the East Brunswick Advisory Health Council for the past 25 years and has guided the Mayor and Town Council on health-related issues that affect the public’s welfare. Dr. Freedman is also Chairman of the Middlesex County Health and Wellness Council.
On Wed. Feb. 22nd at 7pm, there will be a program entitled, “How Much Sugar Are You Really Eating?” Jeanette Kimszal, RDN, will speak about the hidden harmful sugars in our food supply. She will provide valuable insights that will allow attendees to make healthier dietary choices. Originally a journalist, Kimszal turned her passion for food into a second career as she became a
Registered Dietician Nutritionist.
Lastly, on Thurs. Feb. 23rd at 7pm, the Library will present “Reiki Healing.” Reiki is an ancient technique for relaxation and stress relief. Certified Reiki Master Heidi Scanlon will lead the session, explain reiki therapy and how it reduces stress and tension, supports the immune system, and creates deep relaxation all through the energy of light touch.Scanlon is co-owner and Director of the New Jersey School of Reiki and has been practicing since 2000.
