INFORMATIONS FOR ERASMUS STUDENTS

PROGRAMME: PEDIATRICS 1 AND 2 (with clinical rotation)

The ERASMUS programme in Paediatrics for the year 2017/2018 is scheduled in the 3rd block: February 26th – March 30th.

1.  Attendance at lectures and clinical rotations is obligatory; English is the official language. The programme is presented in the lecture hall in P2 of the University Children’s Hospital (UCH), Bohoričeva 20, Ljubljana. On the first day of the programme you are invited to come to the lecture hall at 8.45 o’clock. The secretary will give you the Attendance list, where you should collect signatures during your programme at our institution. Attendance has to be registered/confirmed for each day by an academic mentor by her/his signature. The Attendance form with a minimum of 80% of all signatures is mandatory for the final signature at completion of the programme. Additionally, completion of the “ERASMES programme in Paediatrics evaluation form is required for the final signature

2.  A white coat and a stethoscope are required for the clinical rotation, which will be held at the different Departments at UCH according to the rotation schedule. There is a central dressing room available for the medical students and it is located near the lecture hall (P2). The secretary has the key in her office, which is also located adjacent to the lecture hall.

3.  Each student must prepare a seminar (power point presentation) and present it to the peer audience. The detail information’s about the seminars will be given from the mentor for the specific theme. The list of the seminars is the same as for Slovene students.

4.  If you are a candidate for the final exam in Paediatrics you must submit an application to the secretary Ms. Branka Kenda (Working hours: 8.30-12.00). The exam is exactly the same as for medical students from Slovenia and consists of a written exam, a practical and an oral exam (all in English). The dates of written exam 2018 are April 4th and April 11th. A positive score at the written exam qualifies you for the practical and oral exam, which will be held within one to two weeks from the date of the written exam. You have a right to two trials (3rd trial has to be approved by Erasmus Coordinator (Prof. Tomaž Marš, MD PhD)). The Attendance list and identity card is to be presented to the examiner at the time of the practical/oral exam. The secretary will provide the scored written exam. The final grading will consist of the seminar score, written exam score and oral exam score (range 5 (negative) -10). The proposed literature for the ERASMUS programme is Nelson Essentials of Pediatrics, 7th Edition.
