My Aims, Values and Principles Statement

In order to ensure that each child can develop and fulfill him/herself as a person, my aims are to: -

·  Provide a safe and secure environment for children.

·  Provide a clean environment in which your child can play & learn.

·  Provide an environment where mutual respect and trust can flourish.

·  Promote the welfare and development of all children.

·  Respect the children as individuals.

·  Uphold the children’s rights and dignity

·  Respect the customs, values and spiritual beliefs of the children and their families.

·  Promote children’s good behaviour through praise, encouragement and guidance.

·  Provide good quality care and education in the early years and enhance children’s social, spiritual, moral, emotional and personal development, using the Early Years Foundation Stage for under 5’s.

·  Provide stimulating activities that are appropriate to the age of your child so that children are encouraged to their full potential.

·  Encourage creativity, self-expression and imagination through various games & activities.

·  Encourage and develop language and communication through a range of play, storytelling and other activities.

·  Help children to develop lively, enquiring minds, the ability to question and argue rationally and to apply themselves to tasks and physical skills.

·  Honour the confidentiality of information relating to the children and their families, unless its disclosure is required by law or is in the best interest of the children.

·  Provide a healthy diet.

My Aims, Values and Principles are achieved by using and following the Ofsted Guidance, the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and guidance from Local Authority along with my written policies that include Safeguarding and Child Protection, Equal Opportunities, SEN.

My Values are achieved by sharing children’s and parent’s views and input which is regularly sought.

Important Rules

If we are to satisfy the legal requirements of the Children’s Act and of the Registration, there are rules which are a condition of our acceptance of your child.

The Law requires that we keep certain records and, if we are to give your child the particular care that each deserves there are some other matters which must be adhered to.

These rules are for the sake of all the children in our care, not least your own.
1. Complete the Registration Contract FULLY.
a) If you are a One Parent Family, it is necessary that I know the basic circumstances; particularly if a parent's 'rights' are subject to a court order etc. I cannot refuse to release a child into either Parent's custody unless I know of a legal bar.
b) It is also essential that I am aware of any special physical, medical or emotional problems your child may have, or if a specific relative or other person will regularly collect your child. If I don't know, damaging mistakes can happen. I will keep such information confidential, but I cannot care for your child properly without it.

2. You will be given a set of my policies to view and will be asked to sign another to confirm that you are aware of my policies that cover various aspects of childminding.

What does the Child need to Bring?

The child needs to bring spare clothes appropriate for the weather (indoor and outdoor), sun lotion, nappies and cream (if still use). Socks for indoors as shoes cannot be worn and bare feet is not permitted.

With regards to regular medication i.e. asthma inhaler pumps then the ideal situation is to ask your doctor for a spare inhaler and spacer that can be kept securely on site. Please note that I must be given permission to administer the inhaler, therefore needs to be recorded in my medical file. Should your child have an epi-pen then please arrange for your doctor to train me on how it should be used on your child.

Excerpts from Reference Letters from Parents to Ofsted (July 2015)

Parent 1

“Tina has been her daughter’s childminder since 2010 and I wanted to take this opportunity to say how fantastic Tina has been. She has accommodated her and her daughter’s every need where possible.

It is comforting being able to leave your child on a daily basis before and after school with someone they truly like, trust, treat like a member of the family and are happy spending time with them. I cannot thank Tina enough for her efforts and care she has given to my daughter and the support she has given me personally me to study and work over the past 5 years.”

Parent 2

“Tina has been my childminder for over 3 years. On some weeks my children spend up to 4 evenings a week with Tina. I am happy in the knowledge that they are safe and very happy there. Tina has always been flexible and strives to support us when I have made changes at short notice, such as changing days or adapting pick up times.

It is hard having another person having your children most evenings, but I am lucky to have Tina who ensures I am kept up to date on what they have been up to, and maintains contact with me, so I feel I can approach her if / when I may have a concern.”

Parent 3

Tina has cared for my children for nearly a year.

My children have developed and grown so much in confidence and learning whilst in Tina’s care.

Tina gives my children so much time dedicated to preparing them for school and in basic learning. I am very happy that we chose Tina and we are overwhelmed at how much my children have come on.

Tina has been a great support to my husband and I.

Parent 4

I am the parent of a child that is nearly 3 years old, who has been with Tina since he was 11 months old.

I chose Tina as my childminder as I have known her for the past 10 years as she had previously cared for my eldest child since he started reception and up to the age of 11 years.

I have been extremely happy with the care both sons have and still receive. Tina’s home is always welcoming, clean and very organised. Tina has a fantastic range of toys for all children's ages.

Tina is a great communicator, she encourages good behaviour, compassion, kindness towards others.

Tina provides breakfast and lunch every day and offers a well-balanced, healthy and nutritious menu including snacks and the odd treat as well.

Overall I am thoroughly happy with Tina’s service, professionalism and the setting she has for the children in her care.

Tina always goes beyond what is required of her with a kind heart.
