Information Sheet & NOMINATOR Application

SunshineCoast Community Services Society and Coast Cultural Alliance are pleased to announce that applications are now being accepted for this year’s Music for Youth Endowment Grant. Applicants may request funding assistance for opportunities such as music lessons, musical instruments, and/or electronic production, e.g. studio time or studio mentoring. The value of the 2014 grant is $500.

This Agency Fund is held by the Sunshine Coast Community Foundation and is the result of the collaboration of the Coast Cultural Alliance, Sunshine Coast Community Services Society, Daniel Kingsbury, Matt Posnikoff and the members of the ‘Waking Life’ 2005 student music project.

Criteria for selection

Youth aged 13 to 19 residing on the SunshineCoast

Youth requiring financial assistance to further musical goals

Youth with experience and/or interest in any or all of the following:

  • Creating original music
  • Performing music
  • Recording music

Youth with an interest in contributing back to the community

A final report will be requested from the recipient describing the use and the benefit ofreceiving the grant. Previous applicants can reapply.

Selection Committee

There will be a Selection Committee with representatives from:

  • Sunshine Coast Community Services Society (SCCSS), provider of youth support programs
  • Coast Cultural Alliance(CCA),member organization promoting arts and culture
  • Delegate chosen by the representative of the “Waking Life” music project

The selection committee will award the grant to the applicant who best meets the criteria.

Applications will be held in confidence by the Selection Committee. The name of the grant recipient will also be held in confidence unless she or he consents to public acknowledgement.

Funds will be disbursed directly to the provider, e.g. music teacher or studio.

The grant must be used by August 31, 2015.

Applications may also be completed by a Nominator who would like to recommend a youth, with the consent of the youth. If an application by a Nominator is shortlisted, the youth will be asked to complete an application.
