INFORMATION – REGARDING CARDS AND LEADUP TO FINALS.

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY.

12.Tie Breakers

SHORT VERSION: 7 ½ minutes each way “sudden death” no result then penalty strokes, set of 5, next set sudden death.

12.1.In the event of a Finals fixture resulting in a draw at the conclusion of normal time, a further two periods of 7 ½ minutes “sudden death” extra time will be played.

12.2.There shall be a two (2) minute break in time between the end of the fixture and the commencement of the tiebreaker.

12.3.If a goal has not been scored by either team after the first period of extra time teams immediately change ends for the second period of 7 ½ minutes.

12.4.Normal interchange rules apply during extra time.

12.5.For a team having a player under temporary suspension at the end of normal time, the offending team shall play with one less player for the duration of the temporary suspension.

12.6.For a team having a player under permanent suspension at the end of normal time, the offending team shall play with one less player for the duration of extra time.

12.7.The match concludes once the first goal (golden goal) has been scored – the scoring team wins the match.

12.8.If there is still no result at the conclusion of extra time, then a penalty stroke competition will be played.

12.9.There shall be a two (2) minute break in time between the end of extra time and the commencement of the penalty stroke.

12.10.Permanently suspended (red card or two yellow cards) players are ineligible to take part in a penalty stroke competition.

12.11.The umpires will decide which goals are to used for the penalty stroke competition.

12.12.Team captains shall toss a coin to decide which team takes the first stroke.

12.13.In a penalty stroke competition five (5) players from each team shall take a penalty stroke alternatively. The penalty stroke can be taken by any of the players who have taken the field of play during the match.

12.14.Each goalkeeper shall defend for their team unless unable to do so, in which case another player may replace him/her. This player must wear approved goalkeeping equipment.

12.15.The competition will cease once an outright winner has been established.

12.16.In the event of an equal number of goals having been awarded, another series of penalty strokes shall be started and shall feature “sudden death” which shall mean that the winner shall be the first team to have scored one more goal than the opposing team after an equal number of penalty strokes has been taken by each team.

12.17.The sequence of stroke takers does not need to be the same as in the previous series, however, the original five (5) stroke takers must be used. The team captain has freedom of choice at the time of each stroke as to which of the nominated players shall take the stroke.

12.18.In the second (unlimited) series, all five nominated players shall take a stroke before any of them are eligible to take a further stroke.

12.19.The team, which defended the first stroke of the first series, shall take the first stroke of the second series.

20.1Temporary Suspensions (yellow card)

BDH will regulate and administer, through Hockey Net system, temporary suspensions as follows;

20.1.1When a player accumulates four (4) temporary suspensions in the BDH or affiliated association during the competition season, a one-game suspension from all BDH or affiliated association competitions is imposed as determined by BDH.

20.1.2For every additional three (3) temporary suspension a player receives in any BDH or affiliated association competition during the season after the fourth caution, a two-game suspension is imposed from all BDH or affiliated association competitions as determined by BDH.

20.1.3If at the end of the qualifying season a player is due for disqualification under this rule then the disqualification shall apply for the finals series or from the commencement of the following season unless otherwise advised by BDH.

20.1.4For the purpose of finals, all temporary suspensions will be removed from a player’s record at the end of the qualifying season. When a player accumulates two (2) temporary suspensions in any BDH or affiliated association competition during the finals series, a one-game suspension is imposed from all BDH or affiliated association competitions as determined by BDH (20.1.4 does not apply to the Junior Competition).

20.1.5BDH will notify clubs whose players are suspended with a minimum 24 hours notice prior to the next fixture game.

20.2Permanent Suspensions (red cards)

20.2.1In the event of a player receiving a permanent suspension, the umpire concerned must submit a report on the incident to the BDH Convenor within 48 hours of the office occurring.

20.2.2The player will be suspended from all BDH or affiliated association competitions for the next following fixture for which they are available and the player may face a tribunal where the tribunal will decide if further penalty/penalties are to be incurred.

20.2.3If at the end of the season a player is due for disqualification under this rule then the disqualification shall apply from the commencement of the following season.

20.3Game Suspensions

A player shall be deemed to be available for a game unless they are:

20.3.1Representing Western Australia in an Australian Championship or Australian Hockey league game;

20.3.2Participating in an Australian Representative Team, or

20.3.3Serving a suspension imposed by the Protests and Disputes Tribunal.

6.Qualifications for Finals

6.1To play in a final, a player must have played at least four (4) fixtures prior to the semi finals for the Club in the senior competition (excluding Veterans Leagues) in that season. In addition, a player:

6.1.1Must have played at least half of their fixtures for the season (in the first eleven if playing two games in a fixture week) in that grade or lower; or

6.1.2Must have played in that grade or lower for their last four qualifying round matches; or

6.1.3Must obtain permission from BDH. The BDH will not give permission unless the Club can clearly demonstrate that an unfair advantage will not be obtained.

7Eligibility for Players Playing Twice

7.115 minute rule (substitute players) – Only the lower grade shall count towards finals eligibility.

7.2Permit Player (Goalkeepers) – Both games shall count towards finals eligibility.

7.3A club must apply in writing to the SMC MG 48 hours prior to seek permission for a person to play in a finals fixture who does not fulfill the eligibility criteria.
