Speaker: Moshe Starkman

Moshe Starkman is a senior VBR consultant at nThrive, a full patient-to-payment revenue cycle management services company. He is an accomplished small business owner and educator, and has served as senior advisor to two presidential campaigns. Over the past five years, Starkman has transitioned into advancing health information technology (IT) and has developed the software behind one of the most successful Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS) registry solutions available. Starkman is an executive leader in Philadelphia area community organizations; a nationally recognized political consultant; software architect; and a value-based, quality-driven health care consultant. He has 16 years of experience in the areas of business development, team building and efficiency training, program development, full lifecycle software development, classroom teaching and public speaking.

Session Objectives –In this session, we will:

Speaker: Cathy Powers

Catherine Powers is a Certified Coding Specialist) (CCS) and an AHIMA ICD-10-CM/PCS Trainer and a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) with over 28+ years of experience in the health information management (HIM) profession in coding, auditing, and the denial/ appeal processes. Currently the Coding Services Education Coordinator for nThrive, corporately located in Alpharetta, Georgia. In this role since 2015, responsible for creating and developing bi- monthly educational webinars for all Coding Services colleagues with information pertinent to inpatient, outpatient, CDI, and Profee colleagues. Manages a team that is a resource entity since 2016 providing answers to questions on all types of coding, procedural and billing issues across the board. In addition initiated, collated, and edited two internal ICD-10-CM / PCS coding and procedure guides; and produces a HIM monthly newsletter on highlights of current issues.

Prior work included SME in the Texas Recovery Audit Program - MIC/RAC; initiating processes, auditing state denials, training coders, and legal staff in coding and regulatory guidelines for reporting. Work experience as an educator for over five years, initially as an adjunct professor in a community college leading courses in coding. Past experience in all aspects of respiratory care in hospitals and rehabilitation centers as a Respiratory Care Practitioner for over 25 years adds to a varied clinical background that encompasses and adds to expertise in the field of Health Information Management.

Denise (Dunyak) French, RHIA, FAHIMA – Senior Manager, Solutions Marketing, nThrive

Denise (Dunyak) French has been an HIM professional for over 35 years. She recently joined nThrive as the Senior Manager of Marketing for mid revenue cycle solutions including Health Information Management. Prior to nThrive, Denise held a similar role and other capacities at Cerner Corporation (formerly Siemens Healthcare). Denise has also worked in HIM leadership at both acute and non-acute organizations. Denise has been volunteered her time over the years at the national, state, and local levels. She served as Program Chair and Co-Chair for several AHIMA meetings. She has also served as secretary, delegate, and education chair for PHIMA and secretary, education chair and President of SePHIMA. Denise was named Distinguished HIM Alumnus from the University of Pittsburgh in 2010 and Distinguished Member of PHIMA in 2014.
