Activities:

  • Assembly led by Year Leader- focus on theme/key issues for particular year group
  • Tutor Led Session- Focus on theme for week/s. Some suggested activities:

Finding & discussing a current news article which relates to the theme / Using YouTube clips/ BBC iplayer and using these to generate a discussion about the theme / A role play activity / Using questions to get students to think about the theme. For example, What makes someone courageous? When have you demonstratedcourage?
Creative activity such as producing poem/image/piece of art work/sculpture/banner for the form room. / Asking students to give mini-presentations on the theme / Multiple choice activity/questions which allow the students to explore the theme / Looking at famous people who have demonstrated this quality and what we can all learn from them.
  • Year Leader Session- Your Year Leader will provide resources for this session. It may link to their assembly.
  • PSHE/Charity session- BYH or PSS will provide resources for you.
  • Form Group Progress Check- Tutors should use this tutor period to carry out basic housekeeping and also to focus on their students’ progress by looking at behaviour, attendance and achievement.
  • Please make sure that you have somewhere in your form where notices etc are displayed.

Tutors should:

Organise the checking of planners (Students in the form may be given responsibility for this.)

Focusing on the form/house achievement/behaviour/attendance points by using the graphs/charts on SIMS

Discussingconcerns/successeswith individual students

Discussing with students data/reports at key points in the year
