Industrial Arts 9 – Project Research Assignment

This assignment is designed to give you project plans for the entire school year. Over the course of the year you will have ample opportunity to projects of your own choice. The biggest waste of time during the year is finding projects; an activity usually indicated by saying, “I don’t know what I want to build!!!”

After completing this exercise you will not have the opportunity touseclass time to look for projects.

Assignment: Each student must come up with eight – count’em 8 – projects that they are interested in doing. The possibility of doing all eight is slim to none, but having the choice of several projects of different size, skill level and time requirements will be beneficial. These planning sheets will be kept on file by the instructor for each student to access when they need them. At least six of the plans must be for woodworking projects and a maximum of two can be metalworking.

For each project you must fill out a copy of the attached project summary sheet (example on the back of this sheet.) This sheet has all of the basic information and a quick description of the project. It is very important that you write down the complete website address so you can make reference to it in the future if needed. It would also be beneficial to print a copy of the working drawing ONLY for reference as well, but if the projectcan be sketched easily, that will be good enough. If it is a plan from a book, you need to note the book and page number. If it is a plan of your own design, you need as much detail and information as possible.

Plan Requirements:The project must fit certain requirement and fall within given limits. As you progress in building your skills, you will be able to undertake more challenging projects.
