(AGI) - Jakarta, Jan 20 - Italy promotes its companies in Indonesia. Embassy of Italy in Jakarta has held a meeting with the Italian ambassador for ASEAN countries at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, in Jakarta. Counselor and Deputy Head of Mission Head of Commercial Section at the Italian Embassy in Jakarta, Alessandro Garbellini said: "The main idea of the meeting is to find the common strategy of Italy, how we can better promote our economy, our culture, in Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam and other ASEAN countries. How Italian companies present here (Asean) may improve the knowledge about the fast growth of economy, food, design, and of course much more", Garbellini affirmed. With Indonesia, he added, "we can share out technology, we can transfer our know how to Asean countries". The topics discussed during the meeting are about the ASEAN political-security community; opportunities from the ASEAN Economic Community and the cross-border cooperation: connectivity, infrastructure, energy, environment; opportunities for the Made in Italy: machineries, agro-industries, luxury goods and tourism; and integrated cultural promotion. The meeting was attended by Italian Ambassador to ASEAN and Indonesia, Vittorio Sandalli, three Vice Secretary General of ASEAN (Hirubalan, Lim and Vongthep), all the Permanent Representatives of ASEAN countries, the Italian Ambassadors to ASEAN Countries, two Italian Director General, two Director General (for Europe and ASEAN) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia, and the EU Ambassador to ASEAN.Vice Foreign Minister of Italy, Benedetto Della Vedova, visited and held a closed-door meeting at the residence of the Vice Foreign Minister of Indonesia, A.M. Fachir. Della Vedova said his meeting with Fachir was used to convey an invitation to President of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to Italy. "We are waiting and looking forward to receiving the visit of President Joko Widodo," Della Vedova said, adding that Jokowi's visit is very important for his country. The Italian President Sergio Mattarella has been making Indonesia as the first country outside Europe he visited. Therefore, he hoped Jokowi could pay a visit to Rome in the near future. At least at the beginning of this year. "We expect to happen in the next few months," Della Vedoya said. Italy's invitation to President Jokowi was welcomed by Fachir. The government of Indonesia will work hard to realize the visit. President Mattarella visited Jakarta in November 2015.
