Assessment Task - Jewish Festival Poster

Individually or with a partner, produce a poster explaining one Jewish festival.

Choose one from the following: Pesach, Shavuot, Yom Kippur, Sukkot, Hanukkah, Purim

The following must be included on your poster:

  1. The name of the festival (English name and Jewish name) – and its meaning.
  2. What is being celebrated/remembered? (briefly explain the story behind the festival)
  3. When is the festival celebrated/remembered? (Western/Hebrew dates and their significance)
  4. How is the festival celebrated/remembered?

Consider:

  • if special meals are served
  • if special clothes are worn
  • what special worship services are held?
  • What special rituals are used? (eg lighting of candles, silence, dance…)

Also include the following:

  • Photos/illustrations
  • A fully referenced bibliography
