The partnership of North East Catchment Management Authority and HVP Plantations has a unique two year traineeship opportunity for a local Aboriginal person who is willing to undertake and complete Certificate III level study in Natural Resource Management and Business Administration whilst on the job.

Indigenous Natural Resource & Administration Trainee

Main duties:

  • Administrationsupport, Data interpretation and input.
  • Small field related forestry and/or environmental projects (supervised).
  • Interact with members of the public, staff and stakeholders on planning and/or environmental matters.
  • Work with and updating data in mapping system (GIS) to identify land tenure, responsible authority, presence of non-company assets, presence of significant flora and fauna and known stakeholder interests (under supervision).
  • Assist on stewardship related projects.

Suitable candidates must be:

  • Willing to work at locations including Wodonga, Myrtleford and at times other parts of northern Victoria.
  • Be of a fit nature, able to bend, lift manageable weights and traverse rough terrain on foot.
  • Hold a current Driver’s Licence, willing to undertake a Police Check and submit a clear Drug and Alcohol test result prior to appointment.
  • Able to provide proof of Aboriginality.

It is preferred the successful candidate qualifies for Victorian Training Guarantee (VGT) Funding (not completed study at a level higher than Certificate II), but this is not essential.

Your experience, passion, energy and enthusiasm towards Natural Resources Management will be highly regarded.

An attractive remuneration package applies, wages in the range of $40,355.14 to $46,524.41 and course costs covered for this traineeship position.
