Both land and labour are identified as the most critical resource component of rural livelihood. But, they are equally important for the poor and slum dwellers living in the urban fringes. Reforms in land and labour sectors alone have not been successful to achieve better inclusive and equitable development. There are instances of lack of accountability, transparency and efficiency in the land and labour management which affect rural livelihood. Tribal, dalit and peasant communities are mainly neglected and underprivileged in the era of globalization. PVTGs are the most neglected and also deprived of socioeconomic opportunities. There are issues concerning land use practices informal labour, migrant labour, etc. There are many associated components associated with land, labour and livelihood. In addition to the prevailing issues there is resilience and survival adaptability, which are important part of the discourse. Further, no unilateral approach has been ever successful to address the aforementioned issues. Therefore, rather than having any unilateral approach to address such issues, multilateral, comprehensive, integrated and inter-disciplinary approach may be required. There is scope for discussion on the range of issues and opportunities on this topic.
