The Trainer's EDGE
Dear Trainer's EDGE Participant:
The Trainer’s EDGE replaces the Trainer Development Conference (BSA 500) as the required “train-the-trainer” course for all District and Council Trainers, and Wood Badge and NYLT staffs. The course is intended to provide insight to behaviors and resources, while offering hands-on experience in methods and media, to develop the platform (technical) skills of a trainer. You will have an opportunity to give several presentations during the day.
The Trainer’s EDGE is meant to raise the level of skill that a trainer initially brings to the training staff experience. The practice offered through staff development sessions, with a focus on the participant, will polish these skills.
Completion of the Trainer’s EDGE is a requirement for the Pack Trainer’s Award. Boy Scout Leaders will also want to participate to become familiar with the “Teaching EDGE” model which Scouts are now required to demonstrate for the Tenderfoot and Life Scout ranks.
The course is scheduled as follows:
Date: Saturday, March 12, 2011
Time: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
Location:Donald W. Reynolds Scout Resource Center,
4295 So. Garnett Rd.
Tulsa, OK 74146
Uniform: BSA Field Uniform ("Class A")
You must pre-register for the Trainer's EDGE course.
Please use the attached application.
PRECOURSE PREPARATION:
Please prepare a 10 to 12 minute presentation on a topic of your choosing from any BSA material. You may use any media you choose.
Your presentation should allow you to demonstrate the skills of a trainer. You will receive constructive feedback on your presentation from the other participants.
You will be making your presentation to (a maximum) of 5 other scouts/scouters. Bring enough equipment or materials with you to the Trainer's EDGE Training for your presentation.
If you have any questions, please contact Wes Mitchell, Course Director, , 271-1075, or Shelley Stringer, Asst. Course Director, , 638-3408.
