India Post has launched electronic Indian Postal Order (eIPO) for Indian Citizens living in India, Locality-based Pin Code Search Directory and value addition to ePost service on 13thFebruary, 2014.
eIPO
This is a facility to purchase an Indian Postal Order electronically for paying RTI fee on-line through e-Post Office Portal India Post web-site Department of Posts, Ministry of Communications & IT in association with Department of Personnel and Training had launched the Electronic Indian Postal Order (eIPO) on 22ndMarch, 2013 for Indian Citizens living abroad across the globe to facilitate them for paying online fee for seeking information under the RTI Act, 2005.
eIPO has now been extended to Indian Citizens living in India for paying online fee for seeking information under the RTI Act, 2005. The applicant needs to registerat e-Post Office portal of India Post or through India Post web site a link for e-Post Office has been provided)to create his/her profile for the first time. Both Debit and Credit cards of any Bank powered by Visa/Master can be used for this purpose.All the requirements for filing an RTI application as well as other provisions regarding eligibility, time limit, exemptions etc; as provided in the RTI Act, 2005 will continue to apply.
ePost
Presently, ePost facilitates the customer to send their messages to any address in India with a combination of electronic transmission and physical delivery through a network of almost 1,55,000 Post Offices. In addition, corporate customers can also avail ePost facility at special rates and other value additions.
In view of the changing customer requirements it has been decided to add following value additions to the ePost service:
(i)Many to One:- This facilitates sending of same ePost message from many senders to one recipient on recipient’s email box.
(ii)One to many :-This facilitates sending of same ePost message from a sender to multiple recipients on recipient’s email inbox.
Locality-based Pin Code Search Directory
Locality Based Pincode Search Directory will facilitate the public to locate Pincode upto locality level for usage of correct PIN code on their mail articles. The Locality-based Pin code Search Directory can be accessed through India Post web-site This facility will facilitate correct usage of Pincode by members of public and thereby help in expediting mail processing.
ePOST: Bridging the Digital Divide
In the recent past, Internet and e-mail have revolutionized the world of communications. At the same time, accessibility to email continuous to be a major problem for many people, especially in the rural areas. In its endeavor to make the benefits of e-mail available to everyone and to bridge the digital divide, Department of Posts has introduced ePOST service.
Through ePOST, customers can send their messages to any address in India with a combination of electronic transmission and physical delivery through a network of more than 1,55,000 Post Offices. ePOST sends messages as a soft copy through internet and at the destination it will be delivered to the addressee in the form of hard copy. ePOST costs just Rs. 10 per page of A4 size.
ePOST can also be availed by the corporate customers, by having a business agreement with India Post. Corporate customers will get special ePOST rates and other value additions.
