Summer Work

(Incoming Third Grade)

Students will be required to complete work over the summer in reading and math. All material will be a cumulative review from the year. Material should be worked on throughout the course of the summer and returned in September.

Reading:

Students for the incoming 3rd grade will be required to read one book over the summer. For thechosen book, please fill out the Reading Response questions provided and return it to school in September.

There is a Reading Log for any additional books that are read by choice. Reading response questions are not assigned for additional books. Books do not have to be from the list below. The reading log is optional, but you may return it to your teacher in September for a prize!

Math

Math practice will be in IXL. All students should have their IXL log in information in their homework pad. Students should complete 10 problems in each section. Problems will be in the second grade skill category. For a challenge, students can choose the same topic in a higher grade level. Additional skills or extra practice problems can always be done as well! 

Also suggested: practice multiplication and division facts using flash cards.

Addition

  • G.3 Add two-digit and a one-digit number with regrouping
  • G.14 Add 3 numbers up to 2 digits each- word problems

Subtraction

  • F.1 Review – subtract one digit numbers
  • F.6 write subtraction sentences to describe picture up to 18
  • F.10 complete the subtraction sentence – up to 18
