retirewise workshop to be held this june
Rejuvenate Ministry is offering a Retirewise workshop for clergy and spouses on Tuesday, June 9, at Plainfield UMC. The workshop will run 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The workshop will be led by David Klaus. He is a certified financial planner with MetLife. Topics covered during the workshop include: Building a financial foundation; planning for your retirement income stream; housing in retirement. umcor dunkirk projects volunteers needed
We continue to work on three homes damaged by flooding last August in Dunkirk. Thanks to Friends Disaster Services the drywall was installed last week. We now need drywall finishers to mud and tape and sand. The siding is ready to be installed and the porch is ready to be framed. We also have a modular home that needs a new roof. I am writing with some big news. As of May 1st the East District Center will become a “Virtual Center”. That is, we no longer will maintain a physical location for the District Center. Instead, I will be working out of my home, my car, and each week – two or three day - will set up in a different local church to host a “Virtual Office Day.” Our District Assistant, Bernie Jamison will be working from her home.Why this step? It’s much better stewardship of the funds we are receiving from our East District Churches. Last year our offerings to the District were down such that we ended the year with a deficit. So, we are taking this step to live within our budget, but also I feel that it will help me keep closer with pastors and meet more lay people if I am in two or three of your churches each week to host conversations, small group training opportunities, etc.
Clearly this will mean a learning curve for all of us, so we’ll need to be patient with each other. However this will be best for our mission to Make Disciples of Jesus Christ for the Transformation of the world.

Nashville, Tenn. – Petitions for consideration by the 2016 General Conference may be submitted to the Petitions Secretary beginning April 1 and continuing through October 13, 2015.According to church law, "Any organization, clergy member, or lay member of The United Methodist Church may petition the General Conference..."
Detailed instructions for submitting a petition are available on the General Conference website at gc2016.umc.org. Petitions must be typed and may be submitted through the General Conference website, by postal mail, or via e-mail to . This email address should be used for petition submission only. preaching fruitfulness academy

The Preaching Fruitfulness Academy is an opportunity to spend concentrated time thinking about preaching with the purpose of developing one or more sermon series in collaboration with other preachers. The Preaching Fruitfulness Academy will be led by Rev. Dr. Derek Weber, and will include:
· conversation on the theology and practice of preaching, the why and the how to;
· work on sermon preparation and delivery;
· time for reflection and spiritual renewal;
· worship with the Epworth Forest Choir School community twice daily; and
· conversation about worship with Directors of Music – "Who's in charge here?"
The experience will include overnight accommodations, three meals a day, materials and high quality facilitation, along with powerful cohort learning with other clergypersons. A CEU certificate will be provided at the conclusion of the week.

Indiana Confessing Movement offers $10 dinner tickets to students & ministry candidates
