1. Definitions

In this policy “we”, 'us”, and “the Company” mean Opus LGSS People Solutions Ltd.

“Supplier”means the person, firm or company that has entered into the Contract to provide the Services.

“Staff” means Opus LGSS People Solutions employees.

“Workers” means people working under a contract for services for “the company”.

2. Introduction

Opus LGSS People Solutions Ltd is committed to eliminating modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour and similar human rights abuse.

3. Purpose and scope of this policy

Opus LGSS People Solutions Ltd is committed to ensuring that its staff and any workers it supplies (directly or indirectly) are not subject to behaviour or threats that may amount to modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour and similar human rights abuse.

This policy sets out the steps all of us must take to prevent modern slavery in our business and to comply with relevant legislation.

4. The Modern Slavery Act 2015

The Modern Slavery Act 2015 came into force on 26th March 2015. The Modern Slavery Act affects the Company in its business relations anywhere in the world.

Under The Modern Slavery Act, it is an offence if:

1. The person holds another person in slavery or servitude and the circumstances are such that the person knows or ought to know that the other person is held in slavery or servitude, or

2. The person requires another person to perform forced or compulsory labour and the circumstances are such that the person knows or ought to know that the other person is being required to perform forced or compulsory labour.

3. A person commits an offence if the person arranges or facilitates the travel of another person (“V”) with a view to V being exploited.

4. It is irrelevant whether V consents to the travel (whether V is an adult or a child).

5. A person may in particular arrange or facilitate V’s travel by recruiting V, transporting or transferring V, harbouring or receiving V, or transferring or exchanging control over V.

6. A person arranges or facilitates V’s travel with a view to V being exploited only if—

(a) the person intends to exploit V (in any part of the world) during or after the travel, or

(b) the person knows or ought to know that another person is likely to exploit V (in any part of the world) during or after the travel.

5. Mitigating actions

Opus LGSS People Solutions Ltd provides appropriate training and awareness information for all of its staff.

In particular:

  • All of our staff receive awareness-raising information around issues involving modern slavery and human trafficking, so that they can bring any concerns that have to the attention of management.

6. Responsibility to report

Any staff, workers or other parties are strongly encouraged to report any concerns or suspicions that they might have to the Managing Director.

7. Reporting process

Reports surrounding these issues are taken extremely seriously by our board of directors, who are committed to ensuring that all investigations shall be prompt and effective. If our investigations reveal any issues, we are committed to taking appropriate action, including but not limited to:

  • Working with the appropriate organisations to improve standards;
  • Removing that organisation from our preferred supplier list;
  • Passing details to appropriate law enforcement bodies

8. Monitoring

We regularly monitor our risks in this area through the use of relevant key performance indicators, including:

  • The effectiveness of enforcement against suppliers who breach policies;
  • The amount of time spent on audits, re-audits, spot checks and related due diligence

9. Document renewal

As part of our efforts in this area, we publish a modern slavery statement on an annual basis.

This policy was adopted on 30 November 2017 after being agreed by our board of directors. It is reviewed annually.
