Dear Parents,

In reading next week we will work on new words and skills for Lesson 14, “The Big Race”. The vocabulary words to help your children practice are: four five into over starts three two watch. The phonetic skills we will be covering in this story are the long a sound with the CVCe (consonant, long vowel, consonant and silent e) rule, soft sounds for c, g, and dge, phonograms –ake and –ace.

The spelling words for next week are these words with the long a sound with the CVCe rule: came make brave late gave shape waves chases. Once we start with the long vowels your children may have difficulty understanding about the different sounds the vowels can make. Please help them study their new spelling words with the long vowel sounds and review the short vowel sounds so we don’t forget those.

We will finish working on Topic 6: Data, Graphs and Tally Marks in math. The test will be sometime next week. Our students are really enjoying this Topic! It’s always fun to get to make your own graph J

Enjoy your weekend!

Sincerely,

Miss Breiter
