Job Title / Work Experience Coordinator

Workload / Part Time 0.5, Term Time Only (38 weeks)
Aims and purpose of the job / To source high quality work experience placements for students.
To liaise with tutors, parents, employers and students to ensure suitability of work experience placements.
To promote the college’s services and provision to all employers.
To ensure that Vetting, Health and Safety checks are carried out at all employers premises.

In order to achieve the main aims and fulfil the responsibilities of the post, the post holder will have the following duties:

1 / Arrange Work Experience (WEX) Placements for a range of courses in the department
2 / Regularly visit students and their supervisors at Work Experience placements.
3 / Monitor and report the standard of WEX provision provided by the placement.
4 / Help to raise standards of achievement through WEX for all students involved
5 / Enable all students to gain maximum benefit from work experience.
6 / Work with the Careers, Advice and Guidance team and curriculum tutors to ensure students are well prepared for their placement and that an evaluation takes place following the placement.
7 / Enable tutors to make more effective use of WEX.
8 / Record all enquiries, placements and evaluation on management information systems.
9 / Inform employers of the range of services and provision that the College can offer.
10 / Carry out vetting, Health & Safety monitoring of WEX provision.
11 / Provide administrative support for the department as required.
12 / Assists with recruitment/enrolment activities and any open days/evenings.
13 / Maintain awareness of, and act in accordance with, the provisions of the Health & Safety at Work Act.

General expectations

1 / Participate in annual appraisals of performance and regular reviews.
2 / Undertake any personal/staff development necessary to ensure effective performance in the role.
3 / Undertake any additional duties that the Corporation may require within the scope of the post.
4 / Commit to and uphold the college’s environmental aspirations for sustainable learning provision.

Departmental Specific Duties

This role will be to work with course leaders, lecturers and assessors in implementing work experience for the department under the supervision of the programme area leader. The additional assessment and delivery of My Work Search and work experience is related to the job role.
