1A DESCRIPTION OF THE CARE HOME AND THE PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT

Location

The Property is located on Moortown Road in Nettleton, a small rural village approximately 7 miles from Market Rasen and less than 2 miles from Caistor.

Market Rasen is a small market town lying on the A631 trunk road at an equal distant point from Louth and Gainsborough. Market Rasen lies just off the A46 between Lincoln and Grimsby. Lincoln is the nearest city, 20 miles to the South.

The City lies at the centre of the local road network with the A46 providing the main route south west to Newark and Nottingham. The A15 leads to north Kingston upon Hull and Humberside Airport and south to Peterborough.

Lincoln is located 140 miles from London, 73 miles from Leeds, 53 miles from Leicester, 38 miles from Nottingham and 48 miles from Sheffield.

Description

The front section of this detached two-storey Property comprises a former residential dwelling, dating back to 1886. Construction of the original section is of brick elevations beneath a pitched slate covered roof. Existing Coach House has been linked to main building to provide a new Dementia unit for 8 residents.Two new wings have been added to the Property in 1982 and 1989 of single storey brick and pitched concrete interlocking tiled roofs.

The Property occupies a site area of 1.721 hectares including a large lawned garden to one side and an orchard on the other, providing a beautiful setting for our residents.

Car parking is available for approximately 30 vehicles to the side of the Property. There is tarmacadam surface car parking available to the rear. The Property benefits from being surrounded by mature trees and planted boarders.

Accommodation

  • The Property is registered for 43 persons.
  • Situated over ground and first floor levels with all day spaces situated on the ground floor.
  • The first floor areas of the Property are served by 1 main staircase with a 3 man shaft lift. There is also a chair lift.

2AIMS OF THE HOME:

We aim to provide personal care in a safe, warm and homely environment for older people who can no longer care for themselves, in their own home, or whose families can no longer cope with the constant demands and special needs of that person. We will provide support and stimulation to enable residents to live as full, interesting and independent a lifestyle as possible as far as their capabilities will allow.

3QUALITY POLICY

Nettleton Manor is committed to providing quality services for residents by caring, competent, well-trained staff in a homely atmosphere.

This will be achieved by:
a.Staffare instructed, as part of an induction, to respect

residents and preserve their dignity at all time.

d.Providing such resources as may be required to ensure that

training takes place and is effective.

Our Home will provide services based upon consultation and assessment of the residents’ needs.

Our Home will involve residents in the planning and review of the services that are provided for them to ensure that their needs are met.

provided in the Home by giving each resident a real say in

how services are delivered.

which are likely to affect them, either now or in the longer

Our Home will consult people about their satisfaction with the service and suggestions for improvement.

This will be achieved by:
a.Residents’ consultation and satisfaction surveys.
b.Residents’ and staff meetings.
c.Management review of our Quality Management System.

Our Home will provide catering services which meet the expectations of residents.

This will be achieved by:
a.Planned, structured menus which include residents’ wishes,

choices and preferences.
b.Menus which are nutritionally balanced in the view of a

qualifieddietician.
c.Menus which allow residents to change their food choices.

d.Satisfaction surveys.

Our Home will ensure that residents are fully informed about all matters which might affect their well-being.

This will be achieved by:
a.Residents’ meetings.
b.Keyworker support.
c.Provision of notice boards or other displays which inform

residents.

Our Home will afford all residents and staff an equality of opportunity in respect of living or working in the Home.

Our Home will offer a range of social activities which meet the needs of the resident.

This will be achieved by:
a.Ensuring that activities are offered to each resident which are

appropriate to their needs, abilities or expressed wishes.
b. Ensuring that the Home considers their social, spiritual,

cultural, emotional and physical needs in the services it offers

to residents.
c. Ensuring that residents feel comfortable to decline any or all

of theactivities offered by the Home.

4RESIDENT’S RIGHTS

  • The right of access to your own personal records and information relating to decisions made with all staff that affect your life, and where necessary to be assisted with this.

  • The right of access to outside agencies of your choice e.g. doctor, optician, chiropodist etc., and where necessary to be assisted with this.
  • The right to look after your own medicines.
  • The right to control your own finances, if you are able to do so.
  • The right to make personal life choices such as what food you eat and what time you get up and go to bed.
  • The right to be involved in your own care plan and be involved in any formal reviews of your needs, which take place at regular intervals.
  • The right to access a formal complaints procedure and to be represented by a friend, relative or adviser if necessary.
  • The right to participate in voting at elections.

5FACILITIES AND SERVICES

Meals

Your meals will be carefully prepared by ourqualified catering staff, in consultation with a nutritionist. The meals are as interesting and varied as possible. Residents are offered choices each day and special diets can be catered for. Choices are available at all meal times. The day usually begins with an early morning cup of tea followed by full English or Continental breakfast, mid-morning tea/coffee and biscuits, 3 course lunch, mid-afternoon tea/coffee and cakes, 2 course evening meal and night time drinks and supper snacks. Special diets are catered for and advice of the dietician is sought where necessary. Residents can avail themselves of drinks and snacks by requesting these from staff at any time.

Medical Care

Staffs are always on duty to plan and supervise resident’s care, ensuring the highest standards at all times. The Home’s GP also calls weekly, or more frequently is required, although residents may of course retain their own Doctor if this is practical. Community nurses and primary care team staff will visit residential care residents as appropriate.

An Optician visits regularly although you are free to make appointments outside if you prefer.

Massage Therapy is also available in the home by Karen Baxter, M.I.C.H.T and supervised by the qualified nurse in charge. A charge is made for these treatments.

Physiotherapy can be arranged as necessary.

Chiropody A private chiropodist visits the Home 6 weekly

Hairdressing can be provided, at an additional charge, by our visiting hairdresser – every Tuesday

Visiting Relatives, friends and their representatives are welcome to visit the home. If residents wish to be taken to visit their representatives, friends or relatives, this may be arranged and transport and/or an escort provided, for which a charge will be made.

There is a large private garden which residents may enjoy independently or with others. Any resident wishing to adopt a piece of garden is welcome to do so.

Local clergy visit the home and there is a monthly Holy Communion Service, if residents wished to attend a religious service, arrangements for transportation can be made, either through friends of the church, or using the home’s transport, for which a charge may be made. Arrangements can be made to meet other religious needs.

Quality Monitoring Resident’s satisfaction with the home is considered to be an important indicator as to whether the home is achieving its objectives in delivering quality care. This has been carried out by the use of a questionnaire.
