MSc Program – Renewable Energy in Central and Eastern Europe

Postgraduate Program of the Vienna University of Technology in cooperation with Energiepark Bruck/Leitha. Contributions will be made by the West Hungarian University of Mosonmagyaróvár and by the Energy Centre Bratislava.

The MSc Program “Renewable Energy in Central and Eastern Europe“ is the first cross-border program in Austria and Central and Eastern Europe dealing with the future issues of alternative energy production. Three aspects have been given special consideration:

Technical Innovations: Participants acquire a basic technical knowledge in the area of alternative energy production. The fast-changing nature and development of this sector are specifically considered. Focal points are solar energy, wind power, biomass, biogas, small hydropower stations, photovoltaics, bio fuels, and geothermal technologies as well as issues, such as, energy saving and energy efficiency.

Management of Sustainable Energy Systems conveys skills, such as project development, project financing, project operation, and knowledge about business management. Furthermore, participants obtain a detailed market overview of Central and Eastern Europe.

EU-Extension and Legal Basics: Participants obtain knowledge about the frameworks of European laws and directives as well as on national legal provisions and objectives in Central and Eastern Europe.

Admission Requirements:

Admitted individuals must either hold an academic degree or other qualification which can be regarded as an equivalent thereof, i.e. activities similar to those of a university graduate or relevant professional experience. Application deadline: June 27, 2008

Duration:

The part-time program is presented in modules und takes four semesters.

Next MSc program start: October 17, 2008; graduation: Fall 2010

Final Degree:

The MSc Program is concluded by writing a master theses during the 4th semester. Participants will achieve the final degree “Master of Science (MSc)” granted by the Vienna University of Technology.

Tuition Fee:

EUR 17,500.- for the MSc Program (excluding travel and cost of room and board). Interesting Scholarships are available for selected applicants.
