Tick control

In Australia we have many species of ticks

Dogs and cats and calves are poisoned by Ixodesholocyclus

Rhipicephalus type ticks tend to infect cattle, and not be obvious on dogs where they do not cause paralysis, despite the protozoa that ticks may carry.

Ticks have larval and nymphal sages of ticks, these stages are more mobile, and do not stick on like the big ticks

The big ticks adhere, and suck fluids from the hosts, and inject poison into small animals, and into calves in enough volume to kill them

Chickens eat young ticks;chooks are a great way to remove young ticks from the garden, where the young ticks runs up into small trees so they can drop onto hosts.

Ticks also carry other protozoan parasites, which in turn can carry diseases.

Pour on and long term tick chemical products can be harmful to pets which are already sick from other reasons, eg cancer, immune mediated disease such as infections from teeth. This poisoning should be treated with liver and kidney detox programs, heart support and dietary modification. Should such an animal have to have chemicals as the tick problem is severe, then these programs should be undertaken before dosing.

To help prevent ticks, you can purchase Charissa’s herbal mix to make into a pet spray and bed wash, undertake a tick repellent planting program, and use internal herbal medicines. These do not replace checking for ticks, or the full kill of the chemicals, but can reduce numbers of ticks in the environment, and the pets exposure, and aid in recovery if the pet should get a tick..
