10:00 AM

In attendance: Rahkonen, Puleio, Hastings, Brown, Himes, Zorich, Cunningham, Fowler,

Bowser, Bouton, Janosko, Evans.

The notes from the previous meeting were read and approved.

Technology Plan – discussed the Technology Plan. Liz will distribute this to all library personnel today and ask if anyone would like to work on any themes or goals. Rena suggested that we should identify champions who would report on the progress of or bring information to others on the committee or report to Rena or Liz. Liz volunteered to be the champion of Staff Development. She will work with Ed and Glenn to encourage anyone to attend sessions that will be made available to personnel in the building.

Status of EDT – Joann Janosko stated that the Graduate School Office is starting a pilot program using B-Press. Joann, Karen and Rena will write a letter, have it signed by the Provost, and send it on to the NDLTD--Networked Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations, requesting that we become a member of NDLTD. This way we will be able to create our own depository of dissertations.

Committee Reports –

Sam is working with LibQUAL with Liz; they have delayed the implementation of the SAP student payroll program until sometime in March. From TUC – their current project is the Student Portfolio Project, which, among other things, will increase the “H” Drive space for students.

Glenn – From ACPAC – the experimental classroom (formerly known as the Unilab) idea was presented to ACPAC and was well-received. ACPAC will be asked to consider supporting the experimental classroom; the idea will go to the action committee and will be addressed to the Council of Chairs.

Rena – Mary Sue Iddings from Endeavor was here to demonstrate Encompass
for Digital Resources, which manages digitized or digital collections, to the Digital Repository Task Force; good discussion followed. From SSHELCO – Rena had a conference call last week; EnCompass for Resource Access has been set up at West Chester, Slippery Rock, and BloomsburgUniversities. IUP hopes to be up and running with this resource by mid-March. We will be cut and pasted from the West Chester client and we will be able to change it how we wish, reorganize, etc.

Go-Around –

Liz – we have a new Voyager (as related to PILOT) representative; we will be hearing from her very soon.

Judy Bouton –ILLIAD is up and running with no major problems at this point; we will soon be doing publicity for it. U-Borrow is running but a lot of people don’t care for it, because of its many problems.

BarbHastings– almost all of the equipment orderedfrom requests from the Equipment Committee has arrived; still working with Lester to order items for the multimedia pods.

GlennHimes – worked with StanfordMukasa on Distance Education Series for the AfricanVirtualUniversity; worked out so well, he would like us to produce the same series in French.

Todd Cunningham – upgraded public machines to Windows XP.

The meeting was concluded at 11:30am.
