Hello faith leaders:

As many of you know,ReEstablish Richmond's largest program is transportation. What you may not know, however, is that we have been teaching a learner'spermitclass everyThursdayatWestminsterPresbyterian Church for the past 1 and a 1/2 years. The class is taught in both English and Dari and we provide transportation andchildcare to the classes. In 2016, 75 refugees fromAfghanistan(mostly women) attended these classes. This service is one that is not duplicated anywhere; last March we had 2 cars driving from VA beach so people could learn driving laws in their native language. If you want more information about how these classes came to be, click on the newsletter from Oct 2016. (link below)

In 2017, we have added a class in Arabic for refugees from Sudan, Syria, and Iraq.

In order to successfully run these classes, we need volunteers who can help with transportation and childcare. We are blessed with an abundance of volunteers, but we don't have enough volunteers with weekdayavailabilityto help in these areas. That is why I am writing you. I wondered if you had congregants with daytimeavailabilitythat want to support refugees?

Here are the details of what we need:

Farsi Class-9:30-11:30Thursdays

We need about4 people who can pick up refugees and get them there by9:30.

We need about 4 people who can take them home at11:30

We need about4 people to help with childcare from9:30-11:30

Arabic Class-12PM-2PMThursdays

We need about4 people who can pick up refugees and get them there by12:00

We need about4 people who can take them home at2:00

We need about 4 people to help with childcare from 12-2

**Volunteers don't have to be availableto do all of the above-- even if they can help drive refugees one way, that is helpful. The needs listed above change weekly, and we want to make sure that any volunteer who is interested understands that their flexibility and understanding is appreciated while we attempt to meet client needs. We will ask interested volunteers to sign our policywaivers and do a background check to ensure client safety.

If you have congregants that may be interested in this, please have them emailvolunteers@ reestablishrichmond.org.
