Improvers Lessons

IMPROVERS LESSONS

Over the past 18 months the club’s two English Bridge Union (EBU) trained “club teachers”, Mo Simpson and Ross Stacey, ran a series of beginners lessons using teaching material supplied by the EBU.

The lessons have been successful with both the students and teachers gaining much from them.

We now propose to introduce Year 2 lessons called “Continuing Bridge” which follow the same format as the Year 1 lessons. The lessons use the curriculum, teaching material and publications developed by the EBU Teachers Association.

We propose to run the first block of ten lessons over ten weeks on Thursdays from 11th October to 13th December. The cost for a block of ten lessons is £60; preferably payable by cheque to Northampton Bridge Club.

Should you wish to enrol on the course please contact Mo or Ross.

It should be stressed that to get the most out of the course material it is best to be playing bridge regularly outside the lessons. Playing outside the lessons could be with your friends, which many of the year 1 students do, or play at the bridge club’s Wednesday afternoon open sessions or play as an Associate Club Member on Thursday evenings or on other evenings as a Full Club Member.

If you wish, you can buy from the Club for £25 the text book published by the EBU _ “Book Two – Continuing Bridge - The Complete Learn & Play Programme from the English Bridge Union”. If the book is kept in good condition the club is willing to re-purchase it for £15 – however if you find that you take to bridge seriously it is very likely that you will choose to keep the book for reference. The book is not essential; however it is very useful to students.
