IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR NON-EU NATIONALS
Academic Session 2012/2013
All students must pay a standard student contributionfee per annum. The fee for 2012/13is €2250.00
Non-EU Nationals attending full-time courses must also pay Tuition Fees per annum. The fee for 2012/13 is €8,950.00.
Depending on your residency status in Ireland you may or may not be exempt from paying tuition fees, see criteria below:
- Holders of an Irish/EU passport: If you are undertaking your first course of undergraduate study and resident in an EU Country for 3 of the past 5 years preceding registration,please bring your passport with you to registration and pay the student contribution fee only.
- Non-EU National who has been granted full refugee status in Ireland:If you are undertaking your first course of undergraduate study and resident in an EU Country for 3 of the past 5 years preceding registration. You must produce your letter from the Department of Justice, Equality & Law Reformand supporting documentation confirming your residency status prior to registration and pay the student contribution fee only.
- Non-EU National who have been granted leave to remain inIreland under Family Reunification:If you are undertaking your first course of undergraduate study and resident in an EU Country for 3 of the past 5 years preceding registration. You are eligible under the free fees initiative and are not required to pay tuition fees, provided that the person who has made you eligible for Family Reunification has been recognised as a refugee. You must produce your letter from the Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform and supporting documentation confirming yourresidency status(both the Family Reunification and the refugee status) prior to registration and pay student contribution fee only.

- Non-EU National who has been granted leave to remain inIrelandon humanitarian grounds: If you are undertaking your first course of undergraduate study and resident in an EU Country for 3 of the past 5 years preceding registration. You must produce your letter from the Department of Justice, Equality & Law Reformand supporting documentation confirming your residency statusprior to registration and pay the student contribution fee only.
5.A parent of an Irish born child who is now legally resident in Ireland:If you have been resident in an EU Country for 3 of the past 5 years preceding registration. You should produce your letter from the Department of Justice, Equality & Law Reformand supporting documentation confirming your residency status prior to registration. Then you must pay tuition fees at the EU rate, see below.
- Non-EU National who has been legally resident in an EU member state for 3 of the past 5 years(excluding periods of time covered by student visas): You should provide documentary evidence of residency states and duration of residency in the EU member state prior to registration. Then you must pay tuition fees at the EU rate, see below.
- Where a student (or his/her parents) has been working and their principal residence for the purpose of taxation has been an EU country for 3 years of the past 5 years preceding registration.You should produce a P21 & supporting documentation for the relevant years prior to registration. Then you must pay tuition fee at the EU rate, see below.Prior residence in an EU country as a full-time student alone does not qualify a student.
- Non-EU nationals on a student visa: are required to pay the Non-EU rate of tuition fees per annum. The tuition fee for 2012/13 is €8,950.00
EU Tuition Fee - rates for Academic Year 2012/13:
Higher Certificate courses (Level 6) per annum € 618.00
Ordinary Bachelor Degree courses (Level 7) per annum € 704.00
Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) courses (Level 8) per annum €2,200.00
All Other Honours Bachelor Degree courses (Level 8) per annum €1,569.00
An Immigration Certificate of Registration or GNIB Card indicating Stamp 4 does not necessarily exempt you from the payment of tuition fees.
