IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR DANMOTO HIGHWAYMAN EXHAUSTS

General Notes regarding Installation

1)Make sure the motorcycle and exhaust system are completely cooled down before attempting the installation. Also, make sure the bike is secure on a kick stand or ideally a racing stand during installation. Be sure to save all stock components for possible use later.

2)Do not attempt to install the Danmoto exhaust on a motorcycle for which it was not made/designed by Danmoto

.

3)When the exhaust system gets very hot during usage, be careful not to burn yourself on the exhaust system or

parts which are in direct contact with it, even after the engine is turned off. Also protect others from these injuries.

4)Check the operation of the brakes, suspension and all other functional parts of the bike after installation of the Danmoto Exhaust. Make sure all the bolts are sufficiently tightened. In case the exhaust system touches the cowling, suspension or other parts sensitive to high temperature repeat the adjustment of the exhaust system or contact Danmoto for technical assistance

5)Assure the exhaust system is fitted without any tension/stress on any of the components. The exhaust needs to be hold firmly into place by its mounting hardware without any free play, but also without tension/stress or force on the exhaust itself. Failure of proper installation can cause damage to the exhaust during usage. The exhaust needs to be held in place by its mounting hardware, not by the headers.

6) Technical specifications are subject to change without prior notice.

Installation Instructions

1)Remove the old exhaust from the bike. Also remove the old gaskets from the Cylinder Head ports.

2)Remove the original flanges and Circlips from the original exhaust and install them on the new Danmoto Exhaust.

3)The Danmoto Exhausts are equipped with flat Cylinder Flanges. You need to use corresponding Flat gaskets in order to install these exhausts.

For Aircooled Engines please use Screamin Eagle Gaskets #17048-98.

For Watercooled V-Rod Engines use Cometic Gaskets #26-3768 / #C9928.

4)It is essential to follow the provided installation order. If the exhausts are installed in a different order, it’ll be close to impossible to get them aligned correctly.

5)Mount the provided exhaust mounting bracket to the Motorcycle, using the provided bolts (Skip this step for Softtail models).

6)Attach the rear header to the cylinder, using the original HD Flange and Circlip as well as the above specified gasket. Only Hand tighten the two flange mount studs as this time

7)Apply a bit of grease or oil into the inlets of the muffler. This helps adjusting the alignment of the muffler on the headers.

8)Slide the muffler onto the rear header and attach it to the previously installed bracket. The muffler get’s attached to the bracket using the provided bolts and retainer bracket (shaped like a little bone).

For Softail Models: Slide the muffler onto the rear header and attach the muffler to the original mounting spots on the Frame of the Motorcycle, using the original bolts.

9)Mount the front header now to muffler and front cylinder, using the original HD Flange and Circlip as well as the above specified gasket. Only Hand tighten the two flange mount studs as this time

10)Check the alignment of all parts and make sure there is no tension or force on any of the components and that you have sufficient clearance between the exhaust and all other parts of the Motorcycle. You can correct the alignment by rotating the muffler on the headers. It’s supposed to be tilted outwards by about 30 degrees.

11)Tighten all bolts/nuts/fasteners and secure them with Loctite (or similar)

12)Adjust the mapping/Jetting of your engine to suit the new exhaust. Without corrected mapping, the engine will run too lean which can cause damage to exhaust and engine.
