-The rebellion was led by a secret society of men in China who wanted to get rid of foreign invaders. They killed Christian missionaries and attacked civilians in the cities.

  • How did it end?

-Eventually, the boxers were put down by an international relief force which included the U.S. and seven other countries.

  • Why is the Boxer Rebellion important?

-The rebellion removed the Ch’ing dynasty from power, allowing the US and other nation’s free access to Chinese trading until WWII.
