IMPAC Meeting January 10, 2012
- Call to order at 7:02pm. Self introductions
- Motion to approve agenda by Lisa seconded by Cheryl, carried
- Motion to approve December minutes by Mona, seconded by Patty, carried
- Student Council- Kim Wachockier:
- The Student Senate is raising money to help the “Windsor Essex Care for Kids Foundation”. The goal is to raise $800.00 to help improve the facility for the children with mental and physical disabilities. Money is collected through selling $3.00 bracelets.
- Movie nights are successful and there is an intention to do one or two monthly
- Mr. Ferrera’s report:
- Following up on DECA’s fundraising, by sending a letter to the Scotia Bank for support of DECA
- Implementing mandatory financial literacy is still in the works
- Presentation: Mrs. Tracy Mitchell-Robinet-Co-Op program, OYAP, dual credit, High Skills Major
- Co-Op: for students Grade11 and 12. One semester all morning or all afternoon for 2 credits. Placement in real job atmosphere. Helped by the guidance office. Real work interview. Flexible work hours. No prerequisite marks required
- OYAP: starts in Grade 11, transfer school for ½ day Sem 1; Work all day sem 2,
- Dual Credit: St. Clair College credit and extra Coop Credit. True college classes, tuition paid
- SHSM: Specialist High School Major. Through Physical Education or Business and Coop

- Profile of a principal: school councils are asked to review and amend yearly, last done by IMPAC January 2009. Report changes prior to submission
- Fundraising:
- Massey Capri Night: around $200 generated from November and December
- Chochi’s night to be established: parents concerned about a lot of commitments and unhealthy meals!
- Spirit wear: will sell at Grade 8 night
- Career Day: would like to have a group of parents to plan a day with cooperation of Mrs. Mitchell-Robinet
- Principal-Melissa Nantais:
- A request from the wrestling team for the amount of $750 to buy 15 more uniforms.
- Motion to donate $200 to the wrestling team by Jody seconded by Abeer, carried
- Agreement that IMPAC has to set criteria for the school sport teams and clubs to qualify for monetary help from the IMPAC
- Motion, to amend previous motion, to increase the amount given to the wrestling team to be $375 by Denise, seconded by Martha, approved by Jody, Abeer and majority, carried
- Students are only allowed to come back for a 5th year if there was a plan for improvement
- Treasurer-Yvonne Brown: Report is deferred to February
- Motion to adjourn at 9:00pm by Christine seconded by Seema
