Term Project (Fall 2017/2018)

  1. Theme: Developing IS Systems.
  2. Objectives:
  3. Have the students to analyze an IS problem, and identify and define the computing requirements appropriate to its solution.
  4. Have the students to practice designing, partially implementing, and evaluating an IS software system that meets desired needs.
  5. Topic: Exam Archiving System (EAS): you are asked to develop an information system for archiving exams. The system has three main types of users, students, instructors, and administrator. A student can be either registered or not registered. An instructor can be either a professor or a TA. An instructor has to be registered to be allowed to use the system. The admin is responsible for registering students and instructors. Any student is allowed to browse the list of courses or labs. Only registered students can view archived course and lab exam questions. Professors are allowed to add course exam questions and course exam key answers to specific courses and view the course and lab exam questions and course and lab key answers. In addition, they can browse the list of courses and labs. TAs are allowed to add lab exam questions and lab exam key answers to specific labs and view the lab exam questions and lab exam key answers. In addition, they can browse the list of courses and labs. An admin can perform any task that can be performed by any other type of users. In addition, an admin has the privilege to add courses and labs to the list of courses and labs and delete course and lab exam questions and keys.
  6. Deliverables and Deadlines

Deliverable / Deadline / Grade
Vision and scope document / Sun, November5 / 20%
Prototype document / Sun, November 19 / 15%
System Requirement and specification (SRS) / Sun, December3 / 30%
Design, testing, and project plan documents / Sun, December17 / 25%

The report has to be submitted in both hard and soft-copy forms

  1. Team Work: Team working is must. Each group consists of 4 students. Each document must have a group leader. The group leader has to submit a document (has a weight of 10%) that reports the dates of the meetings, the distribution of the work over the group members, and the dates on which the distributed work of each member was submitted. All members are responsible for each piece of work unless the work by a certain member was submitted to the other members in less than 48 hours before the document submission time. In case of any complaint, the other members are responsible for 50% of any grade loss.
  2. Grading Policy: This project accounts for 10% of the final grade of the course. The grade depends on the correctness and completeness of the submitted documents.
