It includes history of manufacturing, market analysis, business plan, the details of product design process, rapid prototyping,survey of manufacturing techniques relevant to today’s metal-products and plastic-products, semiconductor manufacturing and computer manufacturing,biotechnology, and future aspects of manufacturing. It is supposed to bring the students a more global view of manufacturing in product development and management. The course aims at tracing manufacturing from different aspects of market investigation, design conception, prototype manufacturing, mass production, and marketing strategy. In addition to the general introduction of the role of various fabrication technologies in manufacturing, the course will lead the students to analysis and summary of different techniques in technology management. This course also provides the students with opportunities of field trips and on-site investigation.

Automotive Electro-Control Technology

The course of Automotive Electro-Control Technology involves multiple knowledge in the fields of automotive engineering; electrics & electronics; computer control technology; modern control theory, and data collecting & processing. The main focus of this course is on the modern electro-control devices of automobiles. In this course students are supposed to learn about the structure; components; operation principles and control method of the automotive electro-control devices. The course is composed of three sections respectively on ①engine electro-control system including electronic fuel injection & common rail; ②chassis control system including antilock braking system, traction control system, electronic stability program, active suspension & semi-active suspension, electronic power steering, automatic transmission; ③car body system including supplemental restraint system, air-conditioner, automatic navigation, global position system.

Basic Control Technique of Robot and Innovative Design

This course of Basic Control Technique of Robot and Innovative Design provides the students with access to the robot’s control technique. In addition to the introduction of basic knowledge of robot, the course will lead the students to the structure design of Robot, application and principle of Single Chip Micyoco, application and principle of Sensor, and robot control language. The goal of this course is to realize the intelligent control of robot. Practical section will be the most attracting part of the course. The students will be required to programme and control a robot so as to meet the aim of this course -- to improve the innovation ability of the students. Withthe platform of Fischer and Ability-storm robot, the students willapply their classroom acquisition to making innovative design of robot or making applicable robot such as fire-robot, transport-robot, etc.

Numerical Control Technology & Laser Cutting Process

The course of Numerical Control Technology & Laser Cutting Processprovides the students with background knowledge of mechanical processing automation and core technology for operation of numerical control machine tools. It comprises theoretical studies in classroom and the experimental practice in laboratories. The classroom lectures will introduce ①numerical control processing programming; ②computer numerical control installation and its trajectory control principle;③servo-system of numerical control machine-tool’s servosystem; ④mechanism of numerical control machine-tool. The practical unitwill focus on numerical control processing programming, numerical control machine-tool operation andparts processing including machine center and laser cutting.

Digital Design Technique of Auto Parts Based on CATIA

The course of Digital Design Technique of Auto Parts Based on CATIA aims at helping the students learn how to design automobile parts and components with digital design techniques based on CATIA V5. The course comprises of the following steps: ①general introduction of digital design and its principles; ②know-how of CATIA V5; ③design of automobile parts and components with CATIA V5; ④assembly of the designed automobile parts and components. The course is also supposed to provide the students with methodology of Computer Aided Digital Design techniques through the study of CARTIA5.

PRACTICE SECTION

Practice Week on BOSCH & ZEXEL Diesel Ejection System

The practical week brings the students a closer access to the diesel ejection system with the following steps:

-theory of EDC

-disassembly and assembly VP44 and CR high pressure pump

-calibration VP44 pump in test bench

-calibration CR/P and injector in test bench

-engine diagnosis

Practice Week on Numerical Control & Laser Cutting

The practice week comes after the classroom study of Numerical Control Technology Laser Cutting Process. The lab work includes two steps:

1) Operation of numerical control mill machine or machining center, which aims at

-learningthe programming mode of Siemens numerical control system and the operating rules of numerical control mill machine or machining Center;

-successful programming and machining the appointed part.

2) Operation of laser cutting machine, which aims at

-learningthe programming and operating of laser cutting machine;

-successful cutting the appointedplate part.

Field Trips to Industry / Company around Yangtze RiverDelta

The trips come forth on weekends of the latter half of the program. By visiting the businesses and interviewing leaderships, engineers and technicians, the students can learn about Chinese social and economic reaction to the development in the field of mechanical and automotive engineering directly and vividly.
