The following are board positions that we are currently seeking to fill:

Education Issues Director tracks both state and national issues related to children’s education, including the work of the Illinois State Board of Education and the Department of Education. The director provides information to state board members and local units regarding these issues and assists in developing legislation policies for the Illinois PTA. Term 2013-2015.

Health Director works with the local units on issues involving the health of children and families; administers the annual Healthy Kids awards; works with local units in developing programs; and represents the Illinois PTA with cooperating agencies as directed by the executive committee. The director should have a background in health. Term is 2013-2015.

Juvenile Protection/Safety Director educates local units on issues of safety and protection of children; administers the annual Juvenile Protection and Safety awards. The director should have a firm understand of the legal system as it relates to juveniles and of current safety issues for children. Term is 2013-2015.

Leadership Development Director is responsible for the development and budget of the leadership program of the Illinois PTA; promotes all PTA courses, administers the course participation incentive program; arranges Train the Trainers workshops; develops leadership tools and courses; and is responsible for statewide leadership conferences. The director must have taken the Illinois PTA Train the Trainers course, have knowledge of the best practices in training and presentation, and have the ability to use technology to develop new training materials. This is a voting board position. The term is the remainder of the2011-2013 as well as the 2013-2015 term.

Illinois PTA Bulletin Editor is the chairman of the editorial committee. With the help of this committee, the editor is responsible for collecting articles from fellow board members or cooperating agencies, copy layout, and publishing regular editions of the Illinois PTA Bulletin plus one convention issue. The editor should have a basic understanding of newsletter layout and the ability to work with writers in editing articles. The term is the remainder of the2012-2014 term.

Technology Director is in charge of the Illinois PTA website and chairs the technology committee. In addition to maintaining the website, the technology director responds to inquiries and Illinois PTA website orders that are sent to the Illinois PTA website and passes them on to the appropriate person on the State Board of Directors for implementation. The technology director is also responsible for judging the Illinois PTA Website Awards with the assistance of the technology committee. The technology director also reviews as necessary the Illinois PTA Internet Policy and the Illinois PTA Linking Policy for changes and presents them to the technology committee for their review; acts as a liaison to the executive committee on the computer systems in the state office including computer readiness, security updates, program updates, computer capacities, and purchase of new computers/accessories; is responsible for the use and supervision of the technology equipment including but not limited to the digital camera and the LCD projector; and is responsible for technological portions of the convention in accordance with the Convention Plan or at the direction of the general arrangements coordinator. Term is 2013-2015.
