ICTO 2018 TRACK 7:Healthcare and Informatics

Short Description

This track on the role of information and communication technologies (ICT) in bridging the gap between health providers and patients is devoted to presenting new conceptual or empirical research that addresses the contribution of ICT to quality healthcare. The track therefore aims to presents a platform for scholars to share their research results and observations in the field.

Collaborative, quality and value-based treatment tailored for the individual patient is a universal trend in healthcare. This trend is also driving the main goal of deploying information technology in healthcare – namely, provision of effective care and accurate diagnostics anywhere, anytime, through access to the right information anywhere, anytime. eHealth, mHealth, health cloud computing, wearable technologies and other emerging digital technologies show the increasingly expanding role of IT in enabling interconnected, holistic and proactive care personalised to patients, their data and their healthcare community. The goal is to ensure that health information and best practices are flowing between providers and patients so as to support a health system that provides smarter spending, better care and healthier people.

Dr. Tarhini is an Assistant Professor of Information Technology at Lebanese American University. His research interests include health information technology, software quality, information security, timetabling, applications of data mining, and stochastic search algorithms relevant for finding solutions to business problems such as vehicle routing and task scheduling. He has several peer-refereed journals and conference publications. He is a member of the Lebanese Association for information Systems (LAIS)– AIS Lebanon Chapter, the treasurer of the ACS Society, Lebanon Chapter. He also serves as the ambassador of the association of Information and Communication Technologies in Organizations and Society (ICTO) in the MENA region.
