I. We still need representatives on RTP subcommittee from Arts and Humanities and Economics and Business. If any Senators would like to contribute to this important effort please see me or email me.

II. Today’s meeting

A. Curricular revisions from Sociology for their Sociology, Gerontology Studies and Criminal Justice majors. We will consider the Fashion and Textiles revisions that I emailed to you but neglected to put on today’s agenda at our December 5 meeting.

B. College Senate Steering Committee resolution on departmental bylaws. I will present this on behalf of the Steering Committee and Paul Bischoff will chair the meeting as it is debated.

C. Graduate Committee. Dr. Koeddermann will be presenting on behalf of. He will present a draft of a new policy for determining graduate faculty status. I will ask you to hold off on comments for or against this until our December 5 when Cynthia Falk will represent the Graduate Committee. The Graduate Committee next meets on December 7 and will consider revisions at that time. The policy will again come to the College Senate at the start of the Spring Semester. The first two meetings are January 30 and February 13.

D. Next the Committee on Instruction will present a proposal for an Engaged Learning Award. This is also not scheduled to come to a vote today. For today please ask questions and clarify for yourself what the proposal involves. Then consult with those you represent and f0rward any comments to the Committee on Instruction. I anticipate that this will return as a business item to Senate on January 30 or February 13.

E. Finally, Tom Rathbone has graciously accepted my invitation to provide an update to Senators on the Facilities Master Plan.

III. Looking Ahead

A. By next meeting we should hear how the Committee on Administrative Review wants to proceed with Academic Affairs School restructuring.

B. I also hope to bring curricular pathways to the Senate by our next meeting.

C. Academic Affairs criteria for program prioritization consultation will go forward. However, I want to get some movement on RTP and restructuring before launching this initiative.
