October 5 For homework, create a 5 slides presentation due on Monday. Include, fun activities, rock type, unique minerals, sources of water, human impact and/or any information that you feel will make this seem like your adventure!

After watching some mountain exploring videos we are becoming experts on an adventure to a mountain range. Check out this video and observe the rock type, topography, plants and animals and the minerals in the water (all by products of the Alps)

October 4 Today we built mountains of shaving cream. For homework research the major mountain ranges on the planet. Become an expert on one. We will create a presentation on your research! Some examples, the Rocky's, Appalacian, Andes, Caucasians, Mid Atlantic Ridge, Alps, Pyrennes, African Rift Valley and / or any other mountain range of interest to you! We also are creating a map of the landscape of New Jersey. Explore regions of our state that you would like to visit. Our students from China have mountains in their province. Where would you like to go?

September 30 Exciting PEP Rally yea! Excellent week we are making rocks. This is a good one out the rock cycle rap for next week!

September 29 Today we made rocks! Compare the density of your rocks to the density of known objects from Tuesday! Watch the following PowerPoint for homework the rocks we made in class. Can you use our rocks to demonstrate each of Earth's rocks and minerals.

September 28 We took two quizzes, major grades are important and they are not able to be changed, like missing assignments! Lets now review your book, page 14 define differences in the lithosphere and asthenosphere. Page 15 how can you get oxygen, sulfur and siliconinto the core? Make a convection current at home. Fill a container with hot below and cool above (food coloring helps). Place a piece of paper on top of the hot water. slowly remove the paper. Tell what happens. Page 21

September27 Wow! I am so proud of all of the presentations! We traveled around the world. We visited volcanoes. You learned from your peers! I think the best representation should be to highlight your journal regarding the following quiz questions. if you don't like my questions supplement your own. volcano quiz

Now that presentations are completed we are determining the density of rocks, making a rock and building mountains out of shaving cream! how is bread rising like the formation of mountains

September 26 We are presenting our research on volcanoes today. A quiz will follow on important facts. Review your notes for tomorrow, when completed. For homework create a circle graph like the one shown on Page 13 of your book. This is your recipe for making your rock. We will use, dirt, sand, salts, iron, calcium, aluminum and other s to represent these minerals in a rock of the Earth's crust!
