Students and Parents,

I would like to share some information about me. My name is Eva White and I received my Bachelor of Arts degree from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas. I am certified to teach reading, journalism, speech and English in grades six through twelve. This is my tenth year to teach English, and I am thrilled to become part of the Olney ISD family!

I am married with three grown children and five grandchildren. My husband, Jerry, is Olney’s varsity girls’ basketballcoach. He has served 21 years in education; three as an assistant principal and 18 as a coach at various schools including Gustine, Seagraves, Anson, Throckmorton, Post, Slaton, and Cumby.

Our oldest son, Neil, is the Director of Metro Care ambulance service in Abilene, TX. He has served as president of theRegional Advisory Counsel, has previously been a flight paramedic for Critical Air and Air Evac, and has taught and still teaches many paramedic classes throughout Oklahoma and Texas. He has a teenage son and a young daughter. Ricky, our next to the oldest, served four years in the Navy journeying to places such as Israel, Egypt, Spain, Italy, and France. His primary assignments werea search and rescue swimmer and a turbine engine mechanic; however, he spent many days cutting hair for his buddies on the ship. This led to his career choice of cutting hair for the public in Oklahoma City. Ricky has two sons and one daughter. Tracy, our youngest and only daughter, graduated from McMurry University in Abilene. Shespent one year as the headtrack/assistant basketball coach in Coleman, TX and three years in the same positions in Slaton, TX. She is now the varsity basketball/assistant softball coach at Comfort High School, a small town near San Antonio, TX.

I held a multitude of occupations before coming to the realization that I wanted to teach. For two years I served as the administrative assistant to the Director of the Abilene Zoo and five years as payroll supervisor for Merchants Fast Motor Lines. I held positions as a loan officer, secretary, teacher’s aide, cashier, and front end manger for Albertsons, Skaggs Alpha Beta, and Payless Cashways. Most of my previous occupations required that I hire and train new employees for their particular job. I enjoyed this aspect of my occupation so much that I made the decision to go back to college part time to get my teaching certification. Working full time, taking care of my young children, and going to school part time delayed my career for ten years, but with the support of my family, I finally accomplished this worthwhile goal.
