“I read myself out of poverty long before I worked myself out of poverty”

-Walter Anderson

We congratulate the students pictured above for their outstanding work at OCHS! They were nominated by teachers and staff because of great work and good attitudes. They received T-shirts and Subway gift cards compliments of the OCHS Youth Services Center. Names of these students are not listed because of internet safety regulations.

Faculty Spotlight: Jennifer Phelps

I graduated from Ohio County High School in 1995. I attended Western Kentucky University and earned a Bachelor's degree in Business and Marketing Education, a Master's degree in Secondary Education, and a Rank I in Counseling. This is my 13th year in education, 5 years as a guidance counselor.

I am married to Brent Phelps and we have two children, Nolan who is 10 and Hayden who is 5.
I enjoy spending time with my family and love to watch my children in all of their activities. We love to go boating, fishing, 4-wheel riding, and going to the beach!

“Test” One Call

OCHS will be issuing a “test” One Call on Tuesday, November 29 from 5:00-7:00 pm. If you do not receive this One Call and would like to receive phone notifications from OCHS, please call Jo Ann Douglas at 274-3366 to give her the names and phone numbers to add to the One Call system. An accurate information system will help us in relaying information regarding school closings once the weather becomes inclement. We appreciate your help in insuring that our contact information for your family is correct.

Transportation Changes

If parents or guardians have transportation issues such as children not getting off buses or not being picked up, please call the transportation department directly at 298-4832. Often the transportation department can remedy the situation in a quicker, more direct manner than someone at OCHS. All transportation changes need to be made by 2:00 pm and only in the event of an emergency, as it causes confusion for both staff and students.
