2J Families,

I hope you all enjoyed your week.I can’t believe it is already June!As noted in the homework, it is “National Volunteers Week”.I want to thank all of the 2J parents who have volunteered their time at Elmwood School. We have had many mystery readers, heritage presentations, class celebrations, chaperones, and so on – thank you and you are greatly appreciated!

We had two heritage presentations this week.On Tuesday we learned about Japan and on Thursday we learned about France.Thank you to Mrs. Ritterbusch for coming in!Below are a few pictures:

In math we are finishing up Topic 14, “Money”.This week the students have been practicing adding and subtracting money as well as estimating if they have enough money to buy a certain item. We will finish the topic next week and start Topic 15.

We have been doing a lot of writing workshop in 2J!We are finishing up our biographies.The students have been working very hard and I am excited for you to see the finished product.We also started poetry in writing workshop this week.The students are creating their own poetry book to share with you for our final class celebration the last week of school (invitations to follow next week).

As mentioned in my previous newsletter, I will be in the Dunk Tank at Family Fun Day during the Sharon Timlin Event next Saturday, June 15.The money raised goes towards a great cause - curing ALS.I will be in the dunk tank from 10:00-10:15 (a full schedule was sent home this week). I hope to see many of you there!

June 28 – Last Day of School - M.O.T.E. Early Dismissal (no lunch served)
