- Carothers, this is something we would have to look into once we choose a banking branch

- Carothers – credit unions are also able to submit bids
- Undergraduate Research Opportunities – Will Hoyer
- Evan Larson – research – jargon is High Impact Practice
- In terms of research, it is a part of an education that has been shown to have a large impact on student success, retention, sense of place and belonging
- Believes that you can learn better through hands on experiences, field trips, and those experiences offered through research
- Allows you to reach students who have trouble learning in the traditional classroom style
- Research is a great way to help fund your own experiences
- Bridget White
- Senior Engineering Physics Major who participated in undergraduate research

- Senator Sawyer –is important to ensure some sense of equality in the research practice, brings up the possibility of encouraging advisors to express this opportunity to students
- President Frey – is faculty compensated for student research at all?
- Larson – its widely variable, some are funded through federal or state sources, but some areas of study are unable to obtain funding
- Some studies occur outside of the school year and professors donate a ton of time to these activities
- Hoyer – with the amount of time it takes from the schedules of professors outside of the academic year, they almost deserve to be funded
- President Frey – Where does the current funding come from?
- Hoyer – came from the Provost office, some faculty have grants; believes we can and should do better
- President Frey – is this something we have thought of as a draw for enrollment

- I hope everyone had a great break and an awesome first week of the semester! Over break, I worked on several new marketing materials.
- There are a few copyright issues with our current logo, so I am currently working on a new one for Student Senate. This logo will be used for nearly everything related to UWP’s Student Senate.
- The Student Senate twitter page is officially deleted. I decided the page did not have a big enough following and was not active enough to have. However, we still have an Instagram page and a Facebook page, so make sure to give them a follow! Please send me anything you would like me to post on the page as long as it is relevant to Student Senate.
- Student Senate posters are ready need to be hung up in the academic buildings. Please stay after the meeting for a short minute so I can distribute the posters. Thank you, Senator Kemp for working so hard on these. They look great!
- Apparel orders are on hold until I have a new logo.
- On February 12, a photographer is coming in to take a group photo as well as individual portraits. What you wear does not matter; however, I would suggest wearing neutral colors and prefer to stay away from bright/neon colors and wild patterns. All of you should have it on your calendars as I sent you an invite a few weeks back. Remember, this is mandatory!
- This semester, I am introducing a new marketing campaign called “Senate Says.” After each meeting, I will have 2-3 Student Senate members stay after for 10-15 minutes to do a mini-interview. The interview will be video taped and put on Facebook (possibly Facebook live). The interview will be brief, and I will ask basic questions. I will email you the questions prior to your interview. Lucas and Skylar will be the first ones to have their Senate Says interview tonight following this meeting.
- The spring involvement fair is tomorrow! Thank you to Senator Ullah, Senator Smith, Senator Hyde, Senator Kemp, Senator Bailey, and Chief of Staff Kaiser for volunteering to table. It is much appreciated! We still have spots open that we need volunteers for, so please let me know if you are free tomorrow 11-2
