CHAMBERLAIN® PARTICIPATES IN OPRAH'S"BIG GIVE" CHICAGO CHALLENGE
City-Wide Movement Raises Nearly Half Million Dollars for the Interfaith House
Elmhurst, IL – April 21,2008 – When Oprah Winfrey surprised local Chicagoan Trey Gonzalezwith $10,000 of her own money during herMarch 10, 2008show and challenged him to turn it into "something bigger" within five days, The Chamberlain Group, which is headquartered near downtown Chicago, quickly caught wind of Gonzalez's charge and joined in the fundraising frenzy. The Chamberlain Group, the world’s largest garage door opener manufacturer, generously donated $5,000 in cash and offered to donate product to assist Gonzalez in what became a massive, Chicago-fueledfundraising effort for his chosen charity, the Interfaith House of Chicago. The results of all of Trey's efforts recently aired during the April 21 Oprah show.
The Interfaith House, established in 1994, provides essential services to homeless men and women in recovery from illness or injury. The board, staff and volunteers at Interfaith House gives those who are ill or injured, with no home, no income and certainly no continuity of heath care a chance for survival and a fresh start.
For five days, Gonzalez and a group of dedicated friends tirelessly phoned potential donors and sent e-mails to local Chicago residents as well as national corporations. In one day, the team also planned and executed a fundraising event and silent auction in the grand ballroom of the new Trump International Hotel & Tower, which was attended by more than 500 supporters.
On Friday, March 14, 2008, the fifth and final day, Chamberlain's Paul Accardo, advertising and public relations manager, attended to present the check at the "Big Give" results event at the Interfaith House. Gonzalez, his friends and camera crews witnessed the unveiling of the final, immense donation, which turned the initial $10,000 amount into more than $458,000.

The donation to the Interfaith House included everything from monetary donations, remodeling materials, labor expenses, medical supplies and care, furnishings for the house, landscaping, exterior repairs and even massage therapy for the residents.
"All of us at Chamberlain were completely floored by the amount of money and services that were donated over such a short amount of time," stated Accardo. "We are incredibly honored to have learned of this organization and to have been given a chance to donate to their cause. The daily passion, dedication and hard work of the Interfaith staff and residents truly merits this recognition and so much more."
