Hurun Report Women Entrepreneurship Summit 2014

(28 June 2014, Kochi, Kerala, India) Today Hurun Report India hosted the day-long “Women Entrepreneurship Summit” for 80 entrepreneurs and senior business people at the Ramada Resort in Kochi.

Eight eminent women and three men spoke at the event with the goal of inspiring smart, talented female entrepreneurs in Kerala to make a positive impact in the world. The conference addressed three major themes: creating awareness about the various government schemes and initiatives for entrepreneurs, how to get funding for business and sharing best practises and the secrets of success.

The Hurun Report WE Summit paved the way for many women to get funding for their business, one of whom also got funds approved by one of the state approved financing institutions. During the event Mr. Pranav Kumar Suresh, CEO Startup Village, agreed to arrange a platform for the women entrepreneurs to meet with investors. Following the event Ms. Aruna Sundararajan, MD KSIDC arranged for a one to one meeting with all the participants of the summit to discuss their issues and find solutions to encourage women entrepreneurship. Nuthan Manohar, Wellness Consultant, Researcher and CEO Me Met Me said, ”It was one of the most useful summits I have ever attended”. Conference participants were inspired by stories from Ms. Shalini Puchalappalli, CEO Lehar Foods Pvt, (Pepsico India), Ms. Diwia Thomas, Founder Papertrail, and many others.

“Women’s empowerment will be front and centre in 2014 as more companies, communities and countries invest in women’s entrepreneurship. The world needs women entrepreneurs, and women entrepreneurs need all of us. It is time to provide the support and tools to ensure that, in 2014 and beyond, women-led businesses flourish. We plan to conduct many more such events and make Kerala the entrepreneurial hub of the country”, said Hurun Report India Head Mr Anas Rahman Junaid.
