Volunteer Job Descriptions

There are many ways you can participate in our volunteer program. Each partnership depends on the needs of the particular school and your capacity to share resources. For many volunteers, the most important contribution is time. Be as creative as you want! For as little as one hour per week, you can make a big difference in a student’s life by:

  1. Brown Bag Assistant – Work on teaching materials such as coloring, cutting, highlighting, pasting, sorting, etc. as requested by teacher. Projects are picked up at school and completed at home.
  1. Classroom Assistant – Assist students in the classroom, making instructional aids, take students to library, create bulletin boards, video assistance, etc. Duties determined by teacher.
  1. Computer Lab Assistant – Assist teachers and students with Internet and use of various software packages.
  1. District-Level Aide – Assist with general office duties and special projects at district administrative offices.
  1. Foreign Language Interpreter – Uses interpreting skills, written and/or verbal, for various activities.
  1. Junior Achievement – Assist with classroom projects associated with the exciting Junior Achievement program.
  1. Library Assistant – Work in school library, includes checking books in and out, shelving, organizing, and inventorying books.
  1. McGruff Puppet Master – Performs anti-crime program on a weekly basis in individual classrooms.
  1. Mentor– Work with a middle school student, one-on-one, as a mentor once or twice a week.
  1. Office Assistant – Assist campus personnel in the front office with general office duties.
  1. Reading Skills Tutor – Assist students with reading fluency and comprehension.
  1. Special Projects – Work on projects on an as needed basis. Volunteer will be called as requests are made for special projects.
  1. Workroom Assistant – Involving xeroxing, die-cutting, laminating, sorting, and all other workroom duties as requested by teacher.
