Celebrating 35 Years of Quality Graduate Education

November 12, 2010

Hello HUX Students,

I hope your fall is productive and enjoyable. We are looking forward now to thespringtrimester. I would like to let you know about a few items of interest to you. Registration will begin November 15and you may register anytime between then andJanuary 14, 2011. Springclasses beginon January 8and end on April 15, 2011. Remember to register through MyCSUDH ( If you need help, you may call Registration at (310) 243-3741. Our fees for most courses will be $230.00 per unit. You must maintain continuous enrollment fall and spring trimesters. If you do not enroll in any course for spring term, you must register for HUX 600, which is $150.00 by January 14, 2011. It is a University requirement that graduate students maintain continuous enrollment.

I would like to remind you to review the HUX materials you were sent upon Admission at least once every trimester to make sure that you understand the Program’s policies and that you aremeeting all your requirements. For instance, the GWE requirementmust be met before completing9 unitswithin the Program. As soon as 16 units have been successfully taken, you must completeyour Advancement to Candidacy. In addition to your original materials, please access the website for clarification of HUX procedures. For further clarification, our office staff is always helpful.

I’d like to congratulate all of you on successfully negotiating so many activities in your lives.

Many of you have demanding careers and families, and your commitment tograduate

study is commendable. Please be aware that we want you to do well, so the following reminders

are offered toward that success. Do not request Incompletes in courses unless your circumstances are

dire. Incompletes not made up within one year revert to IC’s (F’s). You may not withdraw

from classes during the last three weeks of the term unless there is a documented medical emergency.

For the spring 2011 term, that means you may not withdraw after March 28 without

medical documentation. Between January 28 and March 28, you will need a stated reason

and Instructor and Coordinator permission in order to withdraw.

We all look forward to a spring term of productive learning. Course documents will be posted by January 8, 2011. HUX extends wishes for a wonderful term.

All best to you,

Dr. Patricia Cherin
